Summary: Wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't a required textbook
Review: I bought this book for a college DreamWeaver class. I have taken other computer classes that had excellent textbooks. 5 out of 6 people in my class complained about the book. (the non complainer was a computer wiz). The teacher said she got complaints last semester too.
It was not step by step enough. Some steps were left out. You can follow each step and what is on your computer is not always what is in the book. The language was confusing too. The third time through this book it got easier because I understood more about DreamWeaver. The book assumes you understand things already and writes from that viewpoint although it is supposed to be a beginner book. ...

Summary: This is the book I've been looking for!
Review: I'm one of those people who need to do things to learn them. Manuals are fine if I already am very familiar with the software, but useless for learning. I've got a couple of books on Dreamweaver 4, including the one that comes with the software. I can't make myself work through them. This book is exactly what I need: introductory information and plenty of hands-on practice. I've just started using it and I love it already. Everyone's different, but for my learning style, this is the perfect book.

Summary: How much easier can it be?
Review: The book does everything but push the buttons for you. It has text to describe what's going on and what you are doing. It then provides examples that you work as you read the chapter. Things like "insert picture here, then change the text, then click this button..."

At the end of the chapters, it provides you with activities to do. It states what it wants done, and then step by step tells you how to do. If you learn by doing, this is the book for you. It is not just a list of commands, it is a learning process. I learned to use Dreamweaver MX with this book and it was still easy for me (I guess knowing how to use a mouse and keyboard makes me a computer wiz :-)
