Summary: I'd give this 0 stars if I could...
Review: I am very SORRY. I would have not brought this book if I have come here before I made the purchase. There is certainly someone trying to pop up the rating of this book, whenever, there is a bad review, there are couple of 5 stars in there but the reviews or comments are totally irrelevant. If U are hoping to use this book to help U implement or support SMS 2.0, FOEGET IT. THIS BOOK is lie lie lie. Why would anyone call themselve SMS 2.0 when all the contents are about SMS 1.2. I would not buy any book from Prentice Hall again. Now someone probably come up and give it a 5 star and say the book is totally good for them because they are using SMS 1.2.

Summary: Don't Buy This Book
Review: If you have money to waste and want to learn about SMS 1.2, then buy this book. It promises to have CBT on the enclosed CD and the CBT is for SMS 1.2. IN addition, the "interactive" website that "has" all the practice questions is still under construction or does not exist as far as I can tell. Please don't waste your money - especially if you are looking to learn SMS 2.0. They are very different.

Review: Like many of those who've written and posted reviews here, I feel cheated by this book. Publishing information about SMS 1.2 is OK, but NOT in an SMS 2.0 book. It's not just that the screenshots are ALL WRONG; anyone relying on Vacca's work to pass the MCP exam will assuredly fail, as the differences between 1.2 and 2.0 are much more extensive than a mere change of GUIs. This book should be withdrawn and a refund offered to those who, like myself, were either credulous enough or stupid enough to believe that a large publishing house would actually produce quality material. And while we're speaking of publishers, has anyone noticed that ALL of the more recent positive reviews of this book are more than a little similar? All of them feature some permutation of the phrase "This book helped my company to (trace a stuck job, or some other irrelevant material)". I'm not suggesting that Prentice hall are employing professional fluffers, but they certainly would have been better off spending more time on getting the book right in the first place.

Summary: Certification of SMS System Engineers.
Review: The book is clearly organized to meet the requirements of the Microsoft SMS 2.0 Exam 70-086. Each chapter is well written, supported by graphics, and contains valuable review questions to test readers' knowledge. It's an excellent teaching tool with directions for such common SM tasks as configuring SQL servers on remote computers, manually adding computers to a site, etc. All directions, both step-by-step and general, are easy to follow. Study breaks guide the user in more specialized tasks like upgrades, etc. Valuable notes throughout the text highlight essential information, such as that logon IDs and passwords are case sensitive. Each chapter begins and ends with a summary that makes the book a handy reference tool, not only for study but for use in actual work situations. I can imagine using this book when I'm faced with unfamiliar SM tasks and need to resolve problems quickly. As with all of Vacca's texts, the clarity of writing makes the book a standout.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: BUY THIS BOOK IF YOU STILL HAVE SMS 1.2!!
Review: This is a search and replace book form SMS 1.2. DO NOT BUY IT. As a MCSE/MCT who teaches both SMS 1.2 and SMS 2.0 I know. The author has ZERO experience with Microsoft BackOffice products and has never seen this product. Otherwise the pictures and text would reflect at least a basic level of intelligence.
