Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good, but sparse on material.
Review: This book is intended as an introductory text that avoids being overly wedded to technology or software that will change before the book gets read. In this the author succeeds, using an easy writing style, and interesting projects in Turbo-Pascal. This is the book's main strength. However, the only discussion of hardware is an innovative description of digital logic. By otherwise nearly avoiding systems architecture altogether, Dewdney has created a gap in what is otherwise an excellent and fun introduction.
