Description:

Children learn best by doing, and with this book, kids learn basic computer skills by working on activities in language arts, social studies, science, and math. The activities, which require a word-processing program and computer painting software, are both engaging and academically sound. Kids design flyers, create codes, draw maps, write stories, publish riddles, make flow charts, and more. Designed for either home or school use, most activities can be done alone or with a partner in one or two 45-minute sessions. The Kid-Friendly Computer Book also features a helpful resource section, which includes a quick course in computer basics, a glossary, hints on buying software, an overview of the Internet, and more. Another nice touch is author/illustrator Ed Emberley's section on computer painting tips. Overall, this book is a good computer primer for kids in grades two through four.
