Summary: Very very basic
Review: I bought this based on recommendations of reviewers and was disappointed. Way too basic. Most of the material I had already figured out just noodling around with the options in the menus. Oh well.... Was hoping to save buying more detailed books on both programs. Guess It was too much to hope for.

Summary: For PC Users
Review: I didn't get too far into the book before I realized that it was for PC users. I know the formats a quite similar, but what can I say, I'm spoiled by books written either exclusively for Macs or at least, ones that cover both formats. Just be aware when you're looking to purchase that you take this into account.

Summary: sets a standard for beginner level books
Review: i must admit, i was slightly embarrassed to get this book, b/c it looks like a childrens' coloring book... but don't be fooled.

i have MUCH info and experience with various books, and i'll tell you that this book defines what a BEGINNERS' book is.. and how sweet it is. and i was able to breeze thru this book in less than a week(not to brag about my reading skills, but to show you that this book is logically well organized, has no random comments, and most importantly, gets you on your way towards studying DW further with confidence.. yes, you do have a long way to go buddy.. nothing is easy). furthermore, it doesn't introduce you to things you don't need to know intitially. i.e.: when discussing about a panels' or menu's option, it focuses in on basic matters rather than make you try to make a BEGINNER difficultly memorize EVERY FREAKING COMBINATION and FUNCTION of a complex feature of DW or Fireworks. DW Visual Quickstart(3 stars) bombards a BEGINNER with too many things that you won't even retain it; Mr J tarin, does VQS have any meaning to you? VISUAL QUICKSTART. SORRY, I had to say this b/c this book wasted so much of my time. TIME IS VERY IMPORTANT IN NYC.
Make up your mind already J Tarins, are you trying to write a beginner's book or a wanna be advanced book?

anyway, it was a pleasure to go thru this book. in other words, it's far from boring. after having read this, you should move on to beginner-intermediate DW, in which i recommend DW 4 HOT book or DW 4 Virtual Classroom. But I think DW Virtual Classroom is better.. WHY? b/c if you're serious about mastering DW, you're gonna have to study an INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED level book anyway, so why waste your time studying DW so hard(as you would with DW 4 HOT - 600 pages)? [Don't get me wrong. DW 4 HOT book(4 stars) is a great book BUT minus the efficiency]. DW Virtual CLASSROOM is more than adequate to have you EFFICIENTLY move on to intermediate-advanced level without having sacrficed quality. Don't WoRRY. You won't have missed anything(even if you have.. if you get INSIDE DREAMWEAVER 4 by NEW RIDERS(5 stars), an intermediate-advanced level book, everything is in there).... for bells and whistles and putting a lid to your DW studies(studies not practice), get DW 4 MAGIC(5 stars), also by NEW RIDERS. =)

Summary: Wonderfully Written Intro to Dreamweaver & Fireworks
Review: I used Dreamwevare back @ v2, but I hadn't used it since. So, in order to do some remedial work, I picked up this book. I was pleasantly suprised by the fact that it was extremely well written and very complete. Despite the fact that it is really only an introduction, I leaned am amazing amount about Dreamweaver and Firewqorks. This book is solid. I recommend it not to just beginners, but also to those with more experience with Dreamwevaer & Fireworks.

This is definitely a must buy!

Summary: Wonderful Intro to Dreamweaver
Review: I've got absolutely no experince with either Dreamweaver, Fireworks, or web design in general. I picked up the Ethan Watrall's Visual JumpStart book in order to get a running start...and boy was it great! Everything I needed to know to get started. When finished, I was in a great position to move on to bigger and mre complex things. Wonderfully written!

Summary: This book is definitely for you!
Review: I've got to agree with the other reviewers. I've got some expereince with digital media and picked this book up on a lark hoping to get a good intro to Dreamweaver and Fireworks. I found it! Even though the book is meant for beginners, it didn't talk down to me at all. It didn't treat me like an idiot whose hand needed to be held...that means a lot!

The content was extremely well presented and thought out. The author wasn't above referring to other sources if he didn't discuss what you wanted to know. He also was crystal clear about what the book covered - so you weren't buying a pig in a poke. Let me tell you, if Ethan Watrell ever put together an advanced dreamweaver and fireworks colume, I would be first in line!!

Summary: AWESOME Introduction
Review: The author even says it! This book is fot the absolute beginner with Dreamweaver and Fireworks 4. It gives you just enough to get started, create pages, publish stuff, and it doesn't get too complicated for newbies. The book takes a LOGICAL approach on how to set things up and what to do once you are in it. Don't look for advice on WHAT to put on your site as this is just a simple guide to actually USE the programs.

A GREAT BUY AT A GREAT PRICE!

Summary: Exceptional Introduction to Dreamweaver and Fireworks
Review: There is no doubt that this book is one of the best intros to Dreamweaver and Fireworks around. It takes a step-by-step approach to getting you very quickly up to speed on what you need to know in order to take some more advanced steps into Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Well conceived, well organized, and well written, this book is a definite permanent addition to the stack of books next to my computer.
