Summary: BEWARE: just a few pages of incomplete material!
Review: 28june02

I've read this book several times and scribbled corrections all over it.<PP>Same errors in questions are also on CD. CD user interface is nowhere near flexible enought (CCIEPrep much better for this).
Here's a few user interface gripes,
In Practice mode it doesn't tell you if you got a question wrong on a per-question basis=stupid.
Getting Assistance is awkward as you have to click "Assistance" then "Check" to see if you got the right answer & "Explanation" to get explanation.
There needs to be a Preferences setup to change programs' behaviour.
You must use a mouse as there are no keyboard shortcuts (like there normally are in any Windows program).
The Questions are in the same order & multiple choice per Q. is in same order every time s/w is run - not very realistic. CCIEPrep randomizes.
You can't click on the text of a question to register your answer, you must click on the Radio button/check-box.
You can't turn the clock off in Practice mode. This is a pain if you want to pause the test & start again later. The test automatically terminates when clock counts down to Zero.
You can't save a test & come back to it later.
Can't get one exam which is a mix of topics - Qs are always segregated into Network Fund., Routing Fund., Cisco Specific & Desktop & bridging.

Lots of the question 'Explainations' say "See test Reference to locate explanation." - this is rediculous - I didn't pay for software to tell me look in a book. CCIEPrep has all explanations in software.

Summary: Doesn't cover required material
Review: First, this book has a good question and answer section. They actually explain each answer and why it works. Unfortunately, you'll have to learn the information from some other source because this book has nothing in it to help you learn any of the information. BGP is not even covered in the text.

Summary: Could have been better if not because of errors and typos
Review: I bought this book because of all the positive reviews posted here. After reading past through half of the book (4 out of 5 chapters), I soon discovered some serious editorial and authoring inconsistencies and errors.

1. Typos plague the whole book from main text to Q&A - particularly true in the answer sections of the book where you need right answers the most.

2. Inconsistencies between text and Q&A. For example, the main text of Chapter 3 mentions nothing about BGP. All of the sudden, the Q&A has about 15 questions. (That's 15%!).

3. Serious editorial errors. In page 221, Table 3-7, there is a note for author that reads "Author: please supply table title". And the title says "Need Chapter Title"

These are just some of the problems I have been running so far. I will continue to read the book to the end though. The CD that comes with the book seems to contain the same questions as the Q&A sections of the book. The software engine is not as good as the one from Cisco Press in usefulness.

I learned some new things from the book (even though I am already a CCNP), but this book has a lot room for improvement. I really feel the author and the publisher are seriously irresponsible in trying hard to rush the product to market.

Summary: Great questions and well written
Review: I found this book to be an invaluable aid in preparing for my CCIE written exam. The sample questions at the end of each chapter are a great way to see if you are ready for the big day. Before you spend the $200 on the actual test, do yourself a favor and spend [price] on this book.

Summary: What a Great book !!!!!!
Review: I just passed my CCIE Qualification exam using this book. This is the second time I took it, and I must say the only reason I passed was because of this book. Each chapter has a brief technology review and then a sample test on the technology. There are 400 pratice questions total each with a very detailed explanation. Some of the questions from the book I ended up getting on the actual test. Some were even word for word. Great book...

Summary: Excellent practice tests.
Review: If you are looking for practice tests to prepare you for the CCIE Qualification 350-001 exam, this is the book to get. It contains 400 questions with detailed answers. If you can score an 85%+ on these tests, you will definitely pass the qualification. But don't cheat yourself and just memorize the answers. If you aren't familiar with the topic, I suggest you find other resources to supplement your understanding of the topic. Highly recommended.

Summary: Good reference
Review: This book had some awesome questions and some information that I did not find in any other resources. But, there were a lot of typos and other errors. Overall, as I believe the book was intended for, I would just buy it for the questions.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Practice questions
Review: This is the only book I have found that has CCIE level questions.
The book is well written and covers all of the technologies that you need to know.

Summary: BEWARE: just a few pages of incomplete material!
Review: Yes, this has tons of questions and detailed answers, but it has ALMOST NO text material! 5 chapters and each has about 4 pages of info before the questions, which is extremely spotty coverage. I'd suggest taking a LOOK at this book before you buy it!
