Summary: Good content -- but terrible editing/proofreading
Review: I am a beginner to technical certs -- CCDA will be my first one. That being the case, this book often confuses more than educates, because of poor editing/proofreading. Some sentences are incomplete, conflict with other text, or are just outright mistakes. This also applies to the practice test -- some of the test's "correct" answers are simply WRONG, when compared to the text in the book.If you are like me, and would rather learn without the distraction of grammar, spelling, and other errors, KEEP SHOPPING. I wish I had.

Summary: Great guide for designing networks
Review: I got this book expecting an easy way to pass the CCDA exam, what I got was a whole lot more. This book is excellent for anyone who ever needs to plan, analyze or install a computer network. It covers not only all the technical information that was on the exam (very strong on WAN technologies) but also the practical application of how to determine the best network for your needs, then test and implement accordingly. It has step by step instructions for planning, implementing and testing. The author also covers troubleshooting not only from a technical standpoint but also from a client needs analysis perspective. I did pass the CCDA exam, although there was nothing too easy about it, all the information was covered in this book and I came away with confidence that I can plan and troubleshoot intelligently any network from a high level. I now apply a lot of this information in my daily work. If this is your career goal, get the book and you'll won't be disappointed.

Summary: Inside Scoop to CCDA Certification : Cisco Certified Design
Review: I like the book very much. It was easy to read, and folowed a smoth easy to understand steps. Unlike one other book I rade, this book simplified new concepts. I would like to ask for the 12 digit database key to be able to install the CD and take the practic exam. Please email this information as soon as posibile.

Summary: A winner!!
Review: I recently took and passed CCNA. I then bought this book and started my study for CCDA. Today I took and passed CCDA but I don't think it would have been possible if I hadn't supplemented my studies with other books. This book has a great structure with pop quizes and chapter reviews that really make sure you are learning your stuff as you go through. However its coverage of certain areas is non-existant (cisco's product line) and its coverage of other areas is very brief considering their complexity (newtworking protocols). If you're weak in either of these two areas you NEED another book as well. CCNA will help with the protocols, but even with CCNA you need to research the cisco product line and understand when different products should be used (for case study questions). The other major problem with this book is its tests questions. Many questions on the quizzer are fill in the blank. If you enter a correct answer and fail to capitilze even one word correctly the quizzer counts it as wrong. Combined with the fact that is impossible to know what exact wording the quizzer is looking for makes the scoring of the quizzer absolutely useless. In conclusion I really liked this book and it really helped me quickly prepare for and pass CCDA. If you don't know the cisco product line, are weak in networking protocols, or need an accurate measure of your knowledge through quiz questions be prepared to get another book to supplement your knowledge.

Summary: My choice for the CCDA exam and a great choice it is.
Review: I went looking for material for CCDA and stumbled across this book. What I found was 400 plus pages of information making the passing of the CCDA exam easier and the learning were enjoyable. Covering the 640-441 exam the book is broken down into 6 parts covering 11 chapters. Starting off with the OSI model and then on to design concepts and models. You then move right into identifying the customers needs and quickly follow up with hardware for LANS and WANS. There is excellent coverage of addressing along with protocols, management and testing and a very good coverage of the IOS. The author includes 5 case studies to further help you understand the concepts of the book. The book comes with a cd-rom with over 200 questions and the install was a snap. The book and cd are setup for a classroom situation and the software can be taken as a straight forward exam or in the adaptive mode. You can track your results as well as a history of your success. Overall the material is excellent and the money I spent was well worth it.

Summary: Excellent Study Guide
Review: Just used this book and passed the CCDA. Took about three weeks to read and I did some of the Case Studies. The CD Test was real good too (they must have fixed it). I was certified in a month. Can't beat that. Buy the book and forget the courses.

Review: The book is well written, however if you're planning to take the test - take CCNA first. Few topics are not explained deep enough, you'd need more advance knowledge, especially on routing. Wouldn't keep this book for future reference and self-preparation software is just awful. Three stars only...

Summary: Excellent Study Guide
Review: This book was truly excellent. It flows well and I read it in only two weeks. I passed the exam the first time. I tried this before with the Sybex guide but found the book too long and boring. This one was short and to the point, whats more it had all I needed to pass and taught me a lot I took back to the job.
The practice exam CD is great too. If you can memorize those questions and answers then the exam won't be much different.
This is THE book for the CCDA exam.
