Summary: Some real review
Review: I didn't like this book. With all the respect I think it's very shallow on most of subjects and not enough even to refresh your knowledge. I think I've wasted my money ( and I did it again with ExamCram NT Server in Enterprise ) so I recommend by Dan York (see my review about) as solid study guide to start with. Passed NetEss with huge score but ExamCram was not the key to success. Good luck !

Summary: Recommended Reading
Review: I read the book and passed the 70-058 Exam on my first try. The book is not meant to be all-inclusive and computer-based test simulations helped immensely(bringing the ideas together). The topics covered in the book I felt were adequate. I would recommend the book and I am currently reading the Workstation book in the series. Good luck!

Summary: A good resource but beware, exam to be retired
Review: I used this book along with the Official MS Press Networking Essentials book, passed the exam the first time with a 955! Definitely helps distill the tremendous amount of information found in the Microsoft book to what is actually covered on the exam. Excellent questions at the end of each chapter, especially the scenario questions. I would not use this book as your only resource to prepare for the exam. Good luck, this is considered by many to be one of the hardest of the six MCSE exams.

Summary: A Good Book to Prep With.
Review: If you are completely new to networking, I would not recommend this book. However, one could say this about most of the books in the Exam Cram series. They are not meant to be all inclusive treatises on the subject. This one fairs extremely well in what Exam Cram books are meant to do: cover what you need to know to pass the test. The practice tests in the back of the book are very good. The material in general is well written and easy to read.

WORD OF WARNING: The test this book covers will soon be retired. The last time I checked, Microsoft intends to retire this test and the rest of the core Windows NT 4.0 MCSE tests December 31, 2000. If you don't have your NT 4.0 MCSE by then, you will have to start over with the Windows 2000 tests. DISCLAIMER: This information is according to the last time I checked the Microsoft web site which was September 6, 2000. It may change.

Summary: Extremely helpful for exam prep
Review: When I started reading this book, I was wet behind the ears. This book helped me get on track to my MCSE. It taught everything you need to know in order to pass the MCSE test. It will give you a good knowledge of Neworking technologies OLD and NEW!

Summary: Need update for some examples in the book.
Review: You will be disappointed if you are using Windows ME or 2000 Profession on your machine and you will find the screens related to the topics on the book is different. But it is good for learning the basics about the related topics with the book.
