Summary: Excellent preparation for the MOUS Expert exam
Review: Exam Cram for Word 97 will provide all the information that you will need to prepare for the MOUS Proficient and Expert exams. It covers the topics that are on the exams. The review questions at the end of each chapter provide excellent tools to practice the skills presented in the chapters, while the example exams at the end of each section (Proficient and Expert) are good practice for the actual MOUS Exams. The exams are task oriented and the tasks on these reviews are grouped into multiple instructions that simulate the exam and the real world. There are some errors in the book, but these should not interfere with your reaching the goal, whether to pass the exam or to become well versed in the use of Word. As an added insight the authors provide hints to direct you over rough spots in the exam. They also give excellent test taking guides to keep you from loosing points unnecessarily. I used this book as my primary preparation guide and the Microsoft Press Word 97 Step by Step Advanced Topics as a supplement. The Step by Step is more detailed in topics covered, but the Exam Cram will direct the person intent on Word Certification toward his goal. I recently passed the Word Expert exam with a score of 97.

Review: This book got me through the exam but only because I was fortunate enough to sidestep the authors' numerous errors, whether typos, incorrect instructions or omissions. Read the book, take the test, and then get rid of the book--don't hang onto it for reference.

Review: This book was a good overview of what will be required on the exam. I took the expert level and passed the first time. But, I did find the sections about macros frustrating, because of errors in the documentation. If needing accurate information on macros, you might want to use a different resource. Otherwise, the general instruction in this book will help with the exam.

Summary: This was a good resource, but needs some work.
Review: Today I passed the Word 97 Expert exam (85%) despite having done only 39 of the 41 questions. The computer crashed at that point. This book really helped me when I was preparing especially stuff on Forms and macros. If you thoroughly cover all the stuff that's covered in this book, you will sail through the exam.
