Summary: Very Clear Discussion of Mobile and eCommerce Platforms
Review: If you want a hype free and well thought out discussion of the platforms for EB/EC and mobile applications, then this module is for you. The author does an incredibly good job of defining application servers in terms of middleware platforms and then goes on to clearly discuss the specialized as well as general purpose app servers. The discussion proceeds from mobile application servers to ecommerce servers to B2B servers and concludes with multimedia and collaboration servers. The evolution of these servers into powerful "super app servers" such as .NET and J2EE follows in a natural manner. Very much worth the cost. I read this module after reading the equally well written Middleware Module. These two modules really cover the ground in the basic middleware services and the packaging of these services into powerful application development and deployment platforms.
