Description:

Packed with questions, answers, and commentary, Exam Cram: Proxy Server 2 will help you fine-tune your brain to pass the Proxy Server 2 exam (70-088), a popular elective for the Microsoft Certified Software Engineer (MCSE) certification. If you've worked with Proxy Server, you should be halfway to passing the test; this book will get you the rest of the way here.

Everything specified in the list of Proxy Server exam objectives is covered in this book, though Microsoft has not officially vetted it. You'll find coverage of planning, implementation, protocols, Internet access, and the mechanics of getting multiple Proxy servers working together.

Symptomatic of the Exam Cram series, this book was designed to assist in last-minute studying rather than advanced preparation. Exam Cram: Proxy Server 2 contains some tutorial prose, but mostly focuses on lists of key facts and practice questions. Each chapter covers individual exam objectives--such as security--and concludes with a series of questions. After each answer, the authors have posted their commentary explaining why the answer is what it is. These bits of commentary prove particularly useful on tricky questions, though self-testing would be easier if answers weren't printed in such close proximity to their questions. A complete sample test (whose answers appear elsewhere) and a good glossary conclude the book. --David Wall
