Rating: Summary: Jerry Miller, CIO & Senior Vice President, SEARS Roebuck Review: I buy a lot of books on Amazon based on reviews and this one fooled me. Furthermore, I don't write reviews, but this was such a total waste of money that I must for the sake of my fellow Amazon members. This 58 page pamphlet basically pitches one idea. I don't mean offense to the author, who possibly for a very limited audience has a market for this writing, however, if you're looking for a good book on how to compete in retail these days then BUY SOMETHING ELSE. I'm throwing my copy away.
Rating: Summary: Betsi O'Neill, VP Advertising & Sales, LEVITZ Review: I cannot believe anyone wrote anything good in defense of this book...er... pamphlet. It seems that this 58 page, large type pamphlet could have fit on an index card. It is an extremely shallow analysis of retail problems, and provides a single (and undeveloped) solution for a multitute of complex problems. How anyone finds this useful, I cannot imagine. It reads like a brochure for Thomas Austin's consulting services. I will not be calling him.
Rating: Summary: Strategic vision Review: I like the fact that this book is short. It leaves out all of the nonsense and gets right to it by delivering a new idea to win the war at the point-of-sale, which is what the title promises. This book is NOT about fixing tactical retailing problems - it's about a forward thinking strategic vision.

Rating: Summary: A "must read" for all aspiring & practicing entrepreneurs. Review: New Retail Power & Muscle: Remarkable Weapon To Win The War At The Point Of Sale explores the future of retailing and the emergence of new approaches that go well beyond "clicks and mortar". Currently, traditional retailers (mortar) are integrating with online retailing (clicks) to create the a hybrid presence in the marketplace. But this is only the beginning of a whole new era in retailing. New Retail Power & Muscle outlines the fundamental problems presently facing traditional retailers and the limitations of today's emerging "clicks-and-mortar" retailing approaches, as well as offering ideas and suggestions that expand way beyond what anyone is doing today. New Retail Power & Muscle is "must" reading for any entrepreneur or businessman wanting to be at the cutting edge of modern retailing possibilities and resources.
Rating: Summary: Very Informative! Review: The author is a bit self-promoting, but his ideas are excellent.
Rating: Summary: Review of War at the point of Sale Review: This book is right on target in identifying where retailers need to go with their clicks-and-mortar strategy.
Rating: Summary: Jerry Miller, CIO & Senior Vice President, SEARS Roebuck Review: Your view of the retail customer's point of sale experience today and in the very near future is 100% on track. The technology exists today to implement what the book predicts. It is a clear definition of what it will take to win in the new "clicks-and-mortar" retail world. Well done Tom!
