Microsoft Word 97 At a Glance

Summary: I don't like this book.
Review: I bought 'Word 97 at a glance' to teach myself. I'm an extreme beginner. Before I bought this book. It seemed this book would be easy and would teach me a lot. Also, this book is from Microsoft. I believed Microsoft press with no doubt. After reading the book, I have almost no ability to use Word 97. This book's approach is a complete failure. click-click-click! It would be better if this book explain the program with good example in each chapter. Don't buy this book.

Review: I use this book for instruction in adult education classes. Fortunately, this book is not cluttered with paragraphs that will turn off some book users immediately. Each task has numbered steps that are referenced in the pictures right beside the steps. Each task is completed on one page or on one spread. I found this book quite comprehensive and very easy to use. The only reason I gave it four stars was that it could have included even more tasks (but then, there's always more, aren't there?). As it is now, the current format allows the pages to fall open (and stay open) and be easily accessed while on the computer. I highly recommend this book and others in the series.

Review: Word 97 At A Glance has been tremendously helpful to me.I am 70 yr old,never worked computer before.I have learned how to watermark paper, import clip art,pictures & sound from Inet, learned about task bars, format, save files, make folders,insert,color,do envelopes & many other things.All I have learned has been from this book.
