Summary: Technical writing the way it was meant to be
Review: I have a Masters Degree in Technical and Professional Writing, and I'm a professional technical writer. So I know what distinguishes a good instructional book from a bad one. Ms. London has done a wonderful, thorough job of explaining how to use FrontPage 2000. Her tips are very thoughtful. I can see her now, with a tape recorder or notepad, noting every little thing that seemed unusual to her as she explored the program. The result is like having a personal tutor sitting next to you, warning you about the program's quirks as you are about to encounter each one.

In a few places. I find myself having to read a passage two or three times before I can understand it, so she could still polish it up a bit. London walks the reader through procedures using her own sample page (downloadable from the publisher's website) but she allows the reader to substitute their own page, instead. London keeps reminding the reader, "of course, if you're not using my sample, you would do it differently . . ." She could probably get away with stating that caveat once per section, instead of several times in each procedure.

But these are small exceptions. In general, the book is very thorough, very well written, and very helpful indeed. Thank you, Ms London, for this fine specimen of technical writing the way it was meant to be!

Summary: FrontPage 2000 by Sherry London
Review: I'm a novice when it comes to computer but this book is so easy to follow and well written and I would say, a must for anybody intrested in FrontPage 2000. I had problems uploading my site, so who better to go to than Sherry herself and she is one of the most charming ladies I've ever had the pleasure to come across. She is not an author who takes your money and runs, but one who cares. She had my site up and running in no time and her book is now like my bible. Thank you Sherry for such a wonderful well written book and being the person you are. Look forward to seeing more of your work.

Summary: Great Beginners Book
Review: This book is well written and organized. The four-color center section is a nice touch.

That said, this book is lacking much beyond the basic use of FrontPage. Beginners will find this book easy to read and follow. However, once a basic understanding of FrontPage is gained, the book is of little value.

So, if you're looking to learn FrontPage 2000, buy this book. If you're looking for how to maintain, enhance or streamline an existing site, this likely isn't the book for you.

Summary: A must have!
Review: This is an information and example packed book. The basic and advanced functions, tricks, tweaks, and examples are all discussed in detail. The ability to see and visualize real world examples of a procedure is very beneficial. Simply look for the example that matches closely one's own task and follow the format in the book. The huge amount of information and the corresponding layout is addressed so that one can use the book as a learning guide, a daily reference, a troubleshooting guide, or as an overall skill builder. FrontPage2000 guides the process of designing quality web sites and explains how to accomplish the desired professionalism easily using FrontPage. If you are a FP2000 user today you will still be amazed at the variety of options and the respective usages. This book will make you a power user.

"FrontPage 2000 Get Professional Results" has earned its own space on my working desk. If you only are going to buy one book as a manual and reference for FP2, I can recommend (without loosing any sleep) this book.

So, ok Sherry London, what future tricks do you have up your sleeve?

Summary: If You Want to Learn FrontPage Read This
Review: You know how so many "how to" books are either so simple they never get around to telling how to do anything but turn on your computer, or they drop the ball somewhere leaving you halfway through a project? Well, this book assumes that the beginner has some brains and follows through. It's well-written and thorough. The biggest problems I had were FrontPage's quirks, but that's not London's fault. She points them out with amusement, and tells you what to do to cope with them. Thank you for a book I can really use!
