Summary: Well prepared!
Review:

Networking Essentials was the last exam for me on my way to MCSE. I have read over a dozen books by a wide range of authors and publishers for the other exams but none had come this close to preparing me for the exams.

The content was clearly explained and the networking/real-life analogies that the author used were excellent.

The book comes with a detachable Chapter Notes leaflet that sums up the key concepts in 32 pages. I read this book and the Exam Cram book in a week. I took the Transcender practice exams that evening and aced them, then took the exam the next day and passed with flying colors.

I believe that I wasted my time and money on the Exam Cram. Everything that was "briefly" talked about in the Exam Cram was talked about more thoroughly in this text and the Exam Cram left out some important details.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: Great book. I used only this and some practice exams and passed with a 900 on my first try. I feel it covered everything that it needed to and was easy to read.

Summary: Some real review
Review: I purchased this book for 70-058 exam preparation and I think it was a good choice. I bought two books on the same subject (SAMS > NetEss in 14 days and ExamCram > NetEss) and when I took some online tests I recognized that wasn't prepared enough. Why York's book is better? Well, I think it's written pretty clear language and includes the exact info you would need to pass the exam ( you have about two month to do so from the present day ). I can't recommend this book as the ONLY source for preparation but it also helped me much. Worst the money and definitely deserves 4 stars. Hope you'll pass with score like mine. Good luck !

Summary: Review for test 70-058
Review: I used this book as a review for the exam. The writing and information was supurb. I think the author did a great job. I would not reccomend using the CD at all. The test engine and sample questions give wrong answers, it will just confuse you. I did use the printed tests at the end of each chapter.

Summary: QUE really is the best!
Review: This is one superb book. I read it and understood it completely in 2 weeks. Dan York explains things in a systematic fashion which does not condescend, but at the same time assumes nothing. I had comprehensive desktop pc experience before reading this book. I now feel competent to talk the network language, and in some detail in some cases. I passed my exam easily due to this book's clarity.

Summary: I WILL purchase future books from this author
Review: Today is March 1/2000 - I passed NET ESS. with 966!

I purchased this book, and I am VERY satisifed with the author. I also purchased "EXAM CRAM" however, would recommed this book much more.

If I had any complaints about the book, it would be the CD. Not that great, but the book more then made up for the CD. I will be purchasing Workstation from this author.

Thank you.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: Very clearly written--doesn't try to blow you away with obtuse jargon. Also tracked very closely with what was asked in the exam. I think this is the only book you'll need for 70-058.
