Rating: Summary: Great resource for those with limited time. Review: ...there are many other ISA Server books out there, but this one offers the material as individualized nuggets of digestible information. This really affords the reader the ability to read at their own pace between all of those other demanding work assignments, and not have to re-read a lot of information. Get a copy and check it out...!
Rating: Summary: Not for exam prepping- this bk leaves out the middle ground Review: As with a lot of books this book does a great job of getting you familiar with the basics. It is very well written. However, it doesn't bridge the gap, which is true with a lot of books, between being simple and adequately preparing for the exam.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time. Review: I read this book and the Syngress book. This book has many typos, at least one of which could confuse the reader, it is very poorly organized, and it doesn't cover many details needed for the test. I was unimpressed with this book. I felt like I had wasted my money. The Syngress book was a little better.
Rating: Summary: THE book to prepare for Exam 70-227 Review: MCSE ISA Server 2000 Training Guide AUTHOR: Roberta Bragg, MCSE, CISSP, MCT PUBLISHER: New Riders REVIEWED BY: Barbara RhoadesBOOK REVIEW: This book is a wonderful guide to help prepare you for Exam 70-227. The print doesn't give you eyestrain there are notes and exam tips in the margins and graphic examples of what the text is talking about. 17 pages of contents, Appendices A-G, a 16-page Index AND a CD-Rom give you plenty of support as you study. The book is hard bound so you can read it without fear of the pages becoming battered as you carry it around. Don't forget, there are chapter summaries, review questions, exercises and exam questions included to further aid in your preparation for taking the ISA Server exam. If your goal is to pass this exam, this book is a MUST HAVE.
Rating: Summary: MCSE Training Guide - Poor Step by Step Examples Review: Not impressed. I understand Firewalls very well and some people may even refer to me as an expert. I hoped to learn about ISA by Step by Step examples. Unfortunately this book lacks well explained examples, descriptions and details. I needed to configure ISA to publish (and protect) my internal web sites but found only one poorly explained Step by Step Example on this subject. The example referred to other Step by Step examples which I found to be very confusing. I do not recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Taking no Prisoners Review: Roberta Braggs wastes no time (you want to pass this exam well listen she says),even the questions in the book were harder than the exam, this book is not for the faint hearted the exam is HARD and the book reflexs that by giving you all the infomation step by step,I digested this book twice just for the pure joy A TOTAL MUST HAVE.
Rating: Summary: Administrators come on in! Review: This is a great book. Intelligently laid out and easyt o follow. The only prerquiisite for reading this book is to have an understanding the basic concepts of a Windows 2000 domain and (more importantly) Active Directory. Understanding what environment the product is expected to be installed in is a big help. Even with extremely limited knowledge of 2000 and Active Directory, I was able to follow along with this book. The best feature of this book are in the question. Not only to you have rewiew questions with answers, but an explaination of why letter A is right and letters B,C and D are wrong. My only complaint about the layout of the book is with the tables and diagrams. Some are hard to understand, unccessary or just make no sense at all. I could do without the usless pictures and keep the well laid out diagrams that do appear in the book. Overall, this is a fanstastic book and will serve your quest for ISA knowledge very well
