Review: A well organized and written book. Covers a lot of SQL queries and PL/SQL. All possible Personal Oracle7 features are covered for the beginner who is working on his own PC. The appendices for using Oracle with various kinds of front end tools could have been lengthier. Good book to have handy if you need reference for Oracle features,complicated queries, stored procedures and database triggers.

Review: If all you are interested in doing is learning Personal Oracle basics and SQL, THEN THIS IS THE BOOK! But if you already know SQL, then don't waste your money.When I needed this book, I was trying to automate Oracle with Visual Basic and it did not help at all.

Summary: Single handiest book you can own as Oracle Developer!
Review: This is a great book! I was former Webmaster and lead CGI programmer at a fortune 500 company and currently am development manager on a team writing and developing Oracle Web applications. This book is the most used Oracle book I own! I must have over a dozen Oracle books and this book rules! It is not advanced but 98% of the time I am able to get the information I need for what I am trying to do. The writer is a good teacher and one could use this to learn and become very proficient in the use of Oracle from a developemnt standpoint. Other critics here have said it is too basic and I agree it is basic but not too basic to be very useful. I heartily recommend this book to anyone learning Oracle or who needs a one volume easy to use reference for Oracle.

Review: This is a pretty disorganized book by any standards. The author seems to have no sense of what he is trying to teach. It would have been so helpful if he had just had the reader create a project from scratch. Instead he jumps from from one topic to the next and then back again. If you want to learn Oracle dont buy this book. The best thing that I can say about this book is that it may serve as a solid reference after you have mastered Oracle.
