Summary: Excellent and Throrough
Review: I bought this book after skimming multiple other titles and I must say that this book, despite not having the word "Bible" or "Complete" in it, was superior to many of those books in the topics it covered and the accuracy in which it covered them. The discussions were useful. I picked up some of the other books afterwards and rarely got more useful information from them (though I am convinved there is no *complete* book out there. . . the microsoft website is a useful adjunct to all of them).

Summary: Experience is still the best teacher
Review: I have finally realized, that there are no easy shortcuts on your way to becoming a professional Access developer. You cannot read one specific book and expect to take a decisive leap forward in your career.

As a typical MS Access "grass root developer", I have learned most of my skills from books, newsgroups, friends and colleagues who work as IT-professionals. But what they couldn't teach me is the reassurance that experience and formal training (i.e. a degree in Computer Science or a Microsoft Certification) brings you.

The answers will come in time when you have developed enough Access applications. In the meantime, if you are looking for some simple guidelines to follow, then you could consider Creating MS Access 2000 Solutions. It is basically a list of work routines and development skills that sets out to bring a touch of experience and professionalism to your applications.

If your applications have reached a size and level of complexity where multiple users, MSDE database engine, replication, transaction processing and user permissions are issues to be considered. Then you learning needs are well beyond the scope of this book.

Creating MS Access 2000 Solutions didn't teach me much when it comes to Access application development. However, it let me to the conclusion that my Microsoft Certification is imminent.

Summary: An excellent book!
Review: True to the Sams series, this book is well written, easy to read, and thouroughly covers the topic. As an Access user and developer, I found this to be one of the best books available, and used it to refresh my knowledge of Access. I had no trouble reading it from cover to cover (which should say much for a computer book). It is suitable for all user experience levels, and balances technical content with an easy to read writing style. I highly recommend adding this to your library.
