Rating: Summary: This book [isn't very good] Review: I don't know what this guy was smoking when he wrote it, or what the publisher was snorting when he signed this guy, but for christ's sake let's sterilize both of them to prevent this type of [garbage] from clogging our inputs.
Rating: Summary: Good Intro Into Web Databases. Review: I read this book, and thought it was a good introduction into web databases. Yeah, the info is not up-to-date, but it still has a lot of usful information for the web database newbie.
Rating: Summary: This book [isn't very good] Review: I'm not a programmer and I really don't want to be. All I needed was a book to show me exactly how to set up a database that would allow the catalog pages on my website to be created on the fly. My website, MagicTricks.Com, is the largest online source of information on magic, magic history, magicians and their amazing feats. The site also features a huge online shop of professional magic supplies. Until I read this book, I was forced to create separate, static HTML pages for each of the 1000+ items in the shop. That's a LOT of work! This book showed me exactly how to set up a database of the products, a template web page and the system for allowing custom web pages to be created for the products, depending on what the visitor wanted to see. The only caution is that you need this book plus the Microsoft Access program plus the Cold Fusion program. If you can read HTML, you can do this!
Rating: Summary: Extremely poor Review: This book will teach you everything you need to know about putting a database on the web except how to put a database on the web. It describes how to make a basic database and how to make a basic web page, but whenever the subject of actually connecting the two comes up, the author says the scripting is too hard and you should hire a consultant. This book is a complete waste of money.
