Rating: Summary: Great Pictures of Early Computers and Calculators! Review: Although a bit dated in some places, specially in recent computer history, there's a lot of interesting info on this CD.And whatever it says on the editorial review, Mac users can use this CD-ROM too, since it is in HTML format: just open the file 01HISTORYCD-Welcome!.htm with your web browser and it'll work OK.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Source for Photos! Review: I have reviewed the most recent "Red Label" version of this photo CD and love the photos of the old computers! If you have an interest in older computers, or even mechanical calculators, adding machines and pocket calculators, this guide has these and more. Excellent photos of the early microprocessor chips and the early vacuum tube based computers. Many photos of systems I have never seen or heard of, plus many more of those I have seen. Some photos are available in different sizes (contains mostly .jpg format photos) and can be accessed through any browser. I used my windows Internet Explorer. Not heavy on recent computer developments, but great info on early systems prior to the 1980's. Well worth the cost. Lots of fun!
Rating: Summary: Great Coverage of Early Computers - Great Photos! Review: I received the 2000.4 edition and was very pleased to find such excellent coverage of early computers, both giant vacuum tube machines and early microcomputers. Most other references I have seen over the years cover one or the other, but not both. This one does. The photos of the early machines show how far we have come in computing technology. Many machines I had never heard of before. Nice reference!

Rating: Summary: Amateur-ish built, good for rare pictures Review: The HTML interface has a unmistakable homemade look, and the info could be better organized, but it is a valuable off-line source of rare computer photos, specially if you like old big iron like ENIAC, EDVAC, UNIVAC and so on. Most of the stuff can be obtained from the Internet with a bit of research, though. Not bad, but I bit disappointing.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Reference for early computers & computer pioneers. Review: There is a lot of information here, packed into one CD. Covers a wide range of computer history topics, and has some interesting historical data that I have not found elsewhere. A very helpful publication.
