Rating: Summary: Intellect slowly climbing out of the C++/Java/UML avalanche Review: It is a very nice book to read. The subjects being explained very lucidely with lots of examples, and abstractions. In my own view every Java and C++ programmer should go through this book ,it will help them immensely and give them a clear understanding. thanks santosh

Rating: Summary: Intellect slowly climbing out of the C++/Java/UML avalanche Review: This book takes a rather different approach to programming and software design. For example, the Association of C and C++ users says: "Not the usual programming/design book! Well worth considering for a second level software-engineering module ... which could then be followed by a third level module on formal methods." After being buried in the successive avalanches of C++, JAVA and UML technologies, this book has found a niche by offering a more generic and principled approach that is intellectually valid for university education and at the same time more user friendly than the usual formal methods texts. Used by several university courses as main text and by many others as recommended reading, the book is gaining more and more currency in academia. It is highly recommended for its stimulating concepts that bring the right degree of formal discipline to undergraduate software education. If used as a main text, it should be aimed at honors level students. For non-honors courses, it is excellent as a source of problems and state-based solution methods for any form of object-oriented programming or software development.
