Rating: Summary: A complete orginization of the Openstep environment :-) Review: I have been looking for a complete source of information and instruction for the Openstep programming environment. This book got me up and programming yellowbox applications in a couple days. A greate learning and reference tool.
Rating: Summary: Good reference material but not much practical instruction Review: The Rhapsody Developers Guide is more a conglomeration of a large set of OpenStep documentation than it is a practical guide to Rhapsody development. The first section of the book is an interesting introduction to operating system design. This section is interesting reading for anyone who hasn't had a good introductory course on Operating Systems at the undergraduate level. The second part of the book regurgitates much of the reference information found in the OpenStep AppKit and Foundation Kit framework guides. The advantage to the Rhapsody Developers guide is that it puts this information in one volume with a comprehensive index. Unfortunately, however, the book contains little practical information on how to use the "Yellow Box" frameworks that are the heart of Rhapsody.
Rating: Summary: this book is not recommendable Review: This book is more reference manual than a Pratical Guide. But if need a reference manual, it is more convenient to use the online documentation in HMTL provided with Rhapsody. This book is not worth to make more comments. I am disappointed !
