Summary: Ambiguous
Review: Dr. O'Leary is my professor here at ASU for CIS 200. I'm actually a Junior in Computer Science, taking this class as an elective (think easy A). I just thought I'd mention that quite a bit of terminology in the book is entirely wrong. For example he calls what are commonly known as 'compilers' language translators? I also got fairly confused with his ambiguous descriptions of things like operating systems, and drivers, and 'System Software'. I understand the need to simplify the language, but he really does a bad job of describing things. I've wondered if he understands some of the things he is trying to explain. Dr. O'Leary seems like a nice enough guy.. but I wouldn't buy his book if I wasn't forced to. [...]
