Summary: Very Good AD Book
Review: As I read this book I felt like an editor. Questions in the back did not always have the correct answer. Sometimes the answers were swapped with other questions and others the answer did not match the text. (ex. page 612 #17 & #18) Other errors in the book include the author telling you that FSMO's stands for "fixed standard master operators" and in the next section defining FSMO as "flexible Single-Master Operation". (pages 392 & 393). Which is it? Not the issues you need while learning advance topics like Windows 2000 AD. Also, the book is labeled as "exam prep". Why then does the author included completed sections that are not on the exam? An exam prep book is meant to cover the exam. I currently hold eight different IT certifications and never have seen a worse "study guide". And with the book being somewhat of a "draft", I would not trust the information.

Summary: Unfinished manuscript
Review: I concur with Thomas Lydon - this book is a first draft and should not have been printed in this form. While the typo's are merely amusing (All of chapter 14 is titled 'Migrating to ARCHIVE Directory), and the occasional answers mismatched with the questions (NTDS.DLL in the question, NTDS.DIT in the answer) merely annoying, I found some major goofs. Example: They talked about applying password policies to an OU in their discussion of blocking inheritance, etc, missing the critical fact that password policies are effective ONLY when applied to a domain, not an OU. Aside from these solid examples, I felt that occasionally the explanations given of a subject were "fuzzy", as if the authors didn't really understand it - but that's just a personal feeling. Fortunatly, with the advent of Win 2003, this book should be less in demand.

Summary: A Key to Passing
Review: I have recently began studying for my windows 2000 certifications. Being a MCP I am looking to upgrade. But did not have any current real knowledge on one of the tests "Directory Services Design". Untill I found this extraordinary book by J. Peter Bruzzese & Wayne Dipchan. I feel as if they gave me the confidence to pass the test. They do such an amazing job on the subject from start to finish! I recommend this exquisite Exam Prep "Windows 2000 Directory Services Design" to everyone.

Summary: Done It Again
Review: Once again Coiolis has done it, They have provided a great exam preparation book. The writing was by far some of the best technical writing I've seen. I have read over a hundred and fifty technical books in my four year IT career. And I have read many Exam Prep books before. This one was by far the best I've seen. Clear concise and by no means a sleeper. The authors kept me interested in the subject so that I did not drift. All the while I was able to take in a vast Knowledge of Directory Services design information. This was not one of the exams I was going to take for my elelctives towards my MCSE. But after reading another book that J. Peter Bruzzese worked on (Windows 2000 Directory Services Exam Cram) I had to get this one. I had followed J. Peter Bruzzese since he strated writing Technical articles in industry magazines. And I look forward to reading much more of his stuff. Get this one you won't regret it.

Summary: Informative BUT - Not Enough for the Exam
Review: This covers the basics well enough. However, I used both Microsoft's book and this book to prepare for my exam and felt that Microsoft prepared me more, not only for the test, but also for real-life situations at work. Not bad for a second reference though.

Summary: Very Good AD Book
Review: Well like the rest of you I needed this book for the exam. It is very well put together and they have done a great job on the majority of the book. The Examples in the Real World Projects area could use some better explanations. I did like the fact that they repeated the installation instructions at the end of the chapter. All in all it may not be enough for the test, but exam prep books arent really for that anyways! They Give you the background needed to understand the products.
