Summary: fast and easy, but too many mistakes
Review: I got this book because I figured for a fast and easy read, which was true. I was through the first 200 pages in one day, and finished the book in three days. I will say that it got me up to speed quickly and I feel comfortable moving around with the different elements of Director.

Now the bad: There were way too many mistake. The dir files that came with the CD were not in the format they were supposed to be in according to the book. They were either already completed, or missing parts that were supposed to be there. That made it quite hard to go through the examples because I had to delete some of the scripts or sprites in order to work with the author.

Also, the code in the book is TINY!! They say, copy this lingo script and attach it to your movie, well I would if the lingo script wasn't written in a 5 point font. I needed a microscope in order to follow the projects and this was the case from chapter 5 on. Also the lingo script wasn't explained very well. If you are going to put "Lingo" in the title, it should have better explanations.

I am happy that the book got me up and running, but all said, it really only replaced about two chapters from the next book that I buy.

Summary: A field-tested approach to learning Director
Review: If you are looking for an easy to read, clear and concise guide to Macromedia Director, this book is for you. Tom Green has been teaching multimedia production for over 10 years at Toronto's Humber College. The clever organization of this book reflects his experiences teaching Director to adult learners.
