Rating: Summary: Fabulous Review: I love Lidia's recipes. I recently made the Spinach Crepe Lasagna and it was fabulous. Although it took more time that I thought it would, it was worth it. Everyone raved over it. I have all of Lidia's cookbooks and they are the first ones I look through when planning a special meal. Lidia's recipes are very similar to the way my mother cooked and was also a fabulous cook who grew up in Italy. This book will make a wonderful gift for anyone who loves to cook.
Rating: Summary: Great Food from a great book Review: I love the recipes in this book so far I have tried at least twenty of them. The chicken valdostana is my favorite especially when you add a tablespoon of red vermouth to the sauce with the wine, it enhances the recipe. One of the best Italian cookbooks I have tried, simple, direct, and easy to follow just like watching Lidia.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book to cook and read from Review: I really love this book. Lidia places so much of her life into this book. It deals with more than just delicious recipes. Her book is packed with charming photos of her family throughout her life. You can tell she pours her life into book. The book is well organized and has a wide variety of Italian recipes, meaning this goes far beyond the traditional meatballs, and pasta. Her recipes include all sorts of delicious soup recipes, pasta, meats, breads, and desserts. With most recipes she gives you tips for what to do with left overs and how to reheat the recipes. The photography is stunning and very inspriational. If you like cookbooks that are more than just recipes, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Great Italian Cooking Review: I've watched Lidia for quite some time on Public Television in Philadelphia. One of my in-laws received her cookbook for Christmas last year. So for the past year, I was debating whether to buy the book or not for myself. But, lucky for me, this cookbook found it's way under the Christmas tree this year. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks I'll have the time to make a couple of the recipes. I'll update my review and let you know what happens. I'm sure I won't have any horror stories. Lidia is great!!!

Rating: Summary: How to feel Lidia's passion for food in your own kitchen Review: If you've ever been to Felidia and seen and spoken even a brief hello to Lidia Bastianich you'll know you need to own ALL of her books. This wonderful third book of hers brings you back to your days (in my case Forest Hills, Queens) when stuffed mushrooms, baked clams, and lasagna were heaven on earth to you and wonderful weekly as well as weekend feasts. Just reading the recipes and you know they will turn out exactly the way the should. Follow them to Italian enchantment. Read all about Lidia and her life. It, like her recipes are down to earth and passionate. Beside food, Lidia extols all the wonders of family gathering, working together, making life delicious. You can just picture her on the wagon going to market when she was little. She was imbued with the wonders of food, its delights, and preparation from the time she was very young so it is no wonder all of her recipes are so enjoyable and accurate you don't know which to start with first. Start with the first one and just go on until you have made the last one. You will have not only read and followed an entire book, you will have made it a permanent part of your life. Thank you Lidia. I anxiously await the next one.
Rating: Summary: not what I expected, or rather, not what I had hoped. Review: Lidia is an excellent chef, there's no disputing that. But I was rather dissapointed with this book. I bought "Lidia's Italian Table" which gave easy instructions on how to make absolutely 4-star gourmet food -- the likes of which I was not familiar. This book, however, is filled with familiar recipes. I'm sure Lidia gives a few helpful pointers here and there due to her infinite abilities as a cook, but I frankly don't think the cookbook is all that useful if you already know how to make a good meat sauce. Good if you don't though, she'll lay out all the basics for you.

Rating: Summary: MORE THAN JUST A GREAT COOKBOOK Review: Lidia's Italian-American Kitchen is more than just a great cookbook, it's a wonderful book on it's own with fascinating information about italy's history as well as the history of the recipes contained within, all told in the simple, yet wisdom-laced words of Lidia. Filled with expert tips and gorgeous photography, Lidia will get you motivated to make the kinds of dishes you always thought might be beyond your skill. More than just providing instruction, Lidia truly has a reverence for food and cooking often lost in our on the go society today.
Italian cooking can be imposing and who really has the time or the nerve to make your own pasta at home? But with so many fresh pasta available in stores today you needn't be intimidated. Lidia starts out with the traditional Antipasta before moving onto sections on seafood, sauces, soups, pizza, and so much more. Best of all is specialized sections which deal with subjects Classic italian-American dishes, Quick dinners, snacks, large parties, etc. Truly a plan for every occasion.
The first recipe I made was the Chicken Scallopine Marsala which was just fantastic. Whether you need something for a Sunday Dinner, large feast, or a quick weekday dinner. You're certain to find a lot you'll love in this book.
Rating: Summary: Simply Delicious! Review: Lidia's recipes are wonderful. Some of the classics from her restaurant can be found here; although achieving the same perfection at home would be a feat. Even so, a moderately accomplished home cook can create meals that will impress. Go for it!
