Summary: Extremely helpful!
Review: I found "Frozen Assets" to be an extremely helpful book. I have been aware of once-a-month cooking for about nine years, but I didn't feel capable of doing it myself. This is the only book I've seen that really takes you by the hand and makes everything very clear. The author seemed to understand what questions I would have ahead of time. All the information anyone would need is in there, and there are tons of other tips regarding food, shopping, and cooking.

Summary: A good introductory work about bulk cooking
Review: This book is excellent for the beginning bulk cooker. Having read several others in this growing field, I have to say that this is the one which I recommend to beginners. While its recipes are not what one would call gourmet fare, they are the typical heartland fare that people remember fondly as "home cooking." Using the tips in this book can be a lifesaver if you are overworked and under-rested--and aren't most of us these days?

Summary: Valuable asset worth owning!
Review: Despite my muscle disorder, this book has helped out many times with my family of five. I will never be able to handle once-a-month cooking. But by utilizing the bulk cooking concept along with all the information on menu planning, shopping, cooking and freezing foods; I have enjoyed times of NOT worrying about what my family will eat. With step-by-step instructions, most any one can easily follow. And I especially enjoy the variety of affordable recipes. It's definitely worth owning!

Summary: The best cookbook I own!
Review: I consider myself an avid cookbook collector--and of the hundreds on my shelves, this is the most worthwhile cookbook to every enter my home! As a career mom who travels frequently, I struggle to find answers for feeding my husband and 3 year-old (picky eater!) daughter. This book holds the answers. In a matter of 8 hours, I was able to fill our freezer with 40 days of meals. And what's best--the family loved them! I also froze some individual sizes for days when I'm gone or if my husband needs a quick lunch. I can't say enough about this book. Grab a copy and discover its magic for yourself.

Summary: I tried it and I love it!!
Review: My wife and I bought this book anticipating the challenge of "once a month" cooking. What a wonderful idea and it was so easy. We love the recipies - have used most of them - and marveled that we could pack so many entrees in our little freezer section of our refrigerator. Our church fellowship dinners have never been easier. Plus, it's so great to have entrees available when friends surprise us by dropping over. I am a man who loves to cook and loves to serve delicious food. Ms Hough, has made life easier for me and my culinary efforts. Our friends rave about the meals, our family thinks we're geniuses. (Of course, I eventually tell them where we got the idea and where they can buy the book.) Thank you Deborah for a masterful book and appetite pleasing recipes.

Summary: Saved me time and money.
Review: More of a time and money management book than a cookbook. The emphasis is on flexibility. The recipes are good American cooking, not fancy cuisine. Stuff my kids will eat. I liked this book alot. :)

Summary: Possibly the most useless book I've ever read
Review: If you consider making about 10 Kilos of mystery meatballs and serving them up with canned tomato soup and grape jelly/chili mixes a culinary delight, then this is the book for you! If your receipe for making spagetti sauce starts by adding cans of ready made sauce, then buy it. If you invite friends to your place for potluck dinners to save cooking expenses by eating their leftovers, you'll give this book 5 stars. If you need cooking tips like "salad does not freeze well," you'll find this book an invaluable resource. Ok, granted, I live in France, a country where "cuisine" like this could probably have you expelled from the country. On the other hand, it has given me an idea of a money saving tip for the mystery meatballs which can help readers of this book save lots of $: garden snails (escargots) are a free, easy-to-find replacement for the ground beef or turkey!

Summary: Good Stuff!
Review: I have tried some of the recipes in this book already, and I (and my family) love them! I didn't know anything about once a month cooking before I began, and this book was quite useful. A firm recommendation for all beginners.

Summary: Excellent book for both beginning and exp. OAMC cooks
Review: This book is full of suggestions for new and experience once-a-month cooks. There are numerous recipes, many of which I've already tried, and they are all delicious!

A great book for those interested in embarking on a way to save loads of time and money.

Summary: A great time saver!
Review: For those of you who are overwhelmed with trying to plan, shop, and cook for your families after a busy day, this book is for you. Once a month, or bulk cooking is not a new concept, but what I find refreshing about Frozen Assets is OPTIONS. My mantra has forever been "there's no ONE way to be organized", and this book shares that philosophy. Bulk cooking is just that; cook double batches for a week and have another week's worth of meals for your freezer. Cook once a month and have 30 days' worth of meals in your freezer. Try it out, a little at a time, and if you like the concept, tweak it for your lifestyle.

Deborah walks you through step by step, from planning to shopping to cooking to storing. I'm always looking at the way books are organized for quick reference, and this one delivers. The table of contents provides a quick look at recipes, which are cross-referenced for ease of use. Frugal tips for shopping and budgeting are included as well.

I highly recommend Deborah's book, and urge you to pick up a copy of your own.
