Rating: Summary: Desserts aren't any better than this Review: Over two decades ago, I purchased a copy because Craig Clairborne of the New York Times mentioned it was his favorite dessert cookbook. I've purchased many of its competitors throughout the years, but this book has remained the dessert resource I've turned to again and again. Unfailingly, the recipies get raves, and are the most requested from my family and friends. Because of this book, I've become known as the "dessert wizard." I couldn't recommend this book more highly
Rating: Summary: Maida Heatter's New Book of Great Desserts Review: This review is in reference to your book Maida Heatter's New Book of Great Desserts.
I think that I am your biggest fan Mrs. Heatters, my husband is just disgusted about my obsession with the book New Book of Great Desserts. I read this like it's a novel. Anyway, I think your book is marvelous, every receipe works beautifully.....except for one little mistake you made. On page 86 of this book with the recepie The Original Kentucky Whiskey Cake you forgot the oven temperature and obviously I had to improvise.
Anyway, I think it is wonderful, and I wish I had all of your books, but I have ordered some and I'am looking forward to receiving them.
Congratulations

Rating: Summary: Great Tasting deserts never go out of style Review: This was my first desert book. I still have the paperback book I bought 15 years ago, and I still love it. Everything is wonderful and with few acceptions very easy. These are the sort of receipes that once you give them a try you will be making for the rest of your life.
Rating: Summary: A Classic Review: This was the first dessert book I ever bought, almost 20 years ago. I've bought many since, but this remains my favorite. Maida is right there with you, guiding you through every recipe, and each one turns out brilliantly. Try the Queen Mother's Cake, the Victorias, the Ethiopian Truffles, the classic Cheesecake. Get ready to swoon.
Rating: Summary: An absolute must-have for anyone who loves desserts! Review: What sets this fabulous cookbook out from others is the charming and talented Maida Heatter. Not only does she take you through each recipe and explain in great detail the method and reasoning, she provides a lovely anecdote to savour along with the scrumptious desserts. Under her expert tutelage, I have mastered beating egg whites and all that entails, and can now enjoy decadent treats like chocolate mousse and fresh ladyfingers - the most divine cookie I have ever had the pleasure of removing from my oven. This is a fantastic find!!!
Rating: Summary: Great Crepe' recipe Review: While I like her "Great Chocolate deserts" cookbook better, I have made some of the stuff in this book without a miss. My favorite is the Crepe recipe. Simple and elegant, tasty and they always come out.
