Summary: An Unexpected Pleasure
Review: A true "lesson" for the avid Q'er.

Informative and humorous with a complete potpourri of recipes. A must for us average folks who do not have tons of $ for a foot long list of ingredients. (Sorry Paul & Emeril)

With this book in one hand and my "Wham" seasoning in the other, I'm headin' to the grill. The result is "awesome"...guaranteed!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great recipes! Each one better than the last.
Review: Before reading the book I had the misconception that bar-b-q was prepared on the "grill". After reading the book I purchased a "cooker" and used it every weekend during the summer.

Each recipe is better than the one before. My entire neighborhood enjoyed the results of food prepared following the recipes and instructions of the book.

A must buy for anyone likes "ribs" or bar-b-q.

Summary: This is one terrific and amazing barbecue book.
Review: For some time, I have been looking for one barbecue book that I could really trust and turn to over and over again. This is it! This is barbecue the way it should be. All the recipes I have tried are delicious and work really well. The book has great ideas for foods that complement your barbecue. The approach is straightforward and easy to understand. We are lucky that a man like John Willingham, one of the world's great barbecue champions, is willing to share so many of his secrets. I don't think there's another book like it. A FAN FROM NORTHERN CALIFORNIA.

Summary: I should'a listened
Review: Great, great book. I wish I would have followed it more during my last BBQ contest. When our team only placed 116 out of 160, I went back and seriously studied the book and found about a dozen things that if we had done we would have placed much better. Will not make that mistake again. I have read many a BBQ book and this is the best.

Summary: Secrets to Championship Cooking Revealed!!
Review: Having the pleasure to have met Mr. Willingham personally, I am delighted to see his long-awaited cookbook arrive! Willingham is without a doubt, one of the most successful men ever to compete on the professional barbecue circuits of America. His down-home approach in this book is like an audio conversation with the man himself. They style it is written is so descriptive you can almost smell the smoke he describes. It features the full compliment of traditional slow style cooking, delicious sidedishes, desserts and drinks from him and friends all over the world. This hardback edition contains many interesting theories on the process of cooking barbecue, and if you read between the lines of his brief narrratives before each authentic southern recipe, you can gleam the genius behind the "madness". This book is perfect for the backyard entheusasist, or the professional attempting to improve his product

Summary: An Excellent Book
Review: I can credit this book with turning me on to real barbeque. I had been searching for the proper tecniques for good barbequed ribs and chicken and happened upon this book. I have found the recipes to be excellent, and easy to follow. I also found the explanation of how to cook low and slow, as well as the reasons for rubs, marinades etc. very useful. I would recommend this book for any barbeque beginner.

Review: I have been cooking barbeque for 22 years and I still learn a lot from this book. John Whillingham is one of the greatest bbq experts in this country. He has a lot to share with the reader and you can not go wrong with this book. If you are wanting a better understanding of barbeque read what John has to say.

Summary: Good Book for Starting
Review: I have had Mr Willingham's book for over 8 years now and still consider it part of my bbq inner sanctum. It's not just his great rubs and sauces but his enthusiasm for the process! In my opinion the key to having fun with BBQ is experementing with various rubs, mops, marinades and pastes (wet rubs if you will). John's book for me was what got me started "Having fun". I highly suggest John's rubs and sauses, espicially if you ar just starting out. They are very good and work with a wide variety of meat, poultry or fish. John's instructions are very straight forward. If you catch the bug I also recomend Paul Kirk's "Championship Barbecue Sauces". Paul's book will take you deeper into the variaties of rubs, sauces etc. Above all remember - Have Fun and eat well!
