Rating: Summary: Perfect?? Review: The only perfect thing about the recipe for "Memorable Meatloaf" was how perfectly awful it was. The only thing "memorable" about the meatloaf is that it's the worst I've ever had. I took two bites and threw the rest away. And I was very hungry! What a waste! (The fried chicken was good, though.) Not many recipes, too much information I didn't want or need or care about.
Rating: Summary: Great Cookbook! Detailed, Instructive, Love it! Review: Great Cookbook, thrilled with it, compared some recipe techniques to those in Gourmet & other cookbooks & everything makes sense, is described in detail and thorough. This is a great cookbook especially for cooks in training. No one assumes you've done this before or know your mother's tricks for making it perfect. The beef tenderloin w/cracked peppercorns was a hit when prepared for a friend & restaurant owner, the prime rib recipe rivaled my mother-in-law's famous method, wonderful greens recipes & loved the Blue Ribbon Apple Pie. Would love to know if, during the freezer step of the apple pie if you can leave the entire pie in there & freeze it for a day-2 weeks or so...
Rating: Summary: This is the best cookbook by HUSBAND every used! Review: I'm not the cook in our house, my husband is. He checked this cookbook out at the library and now we've got to have it. I have personally tried her recipes and they are without fail...and I burned boiled eggs once. This book makes the perfect gift!
Rating: Summary: It's Good for the Soul Review: The thorough review of the testing that went into each recipe is a great help. It allows you to build your own variations. Try the Meatloaf, it's the world's greatest!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: I have made the banana cream pie, creamy cheesecake, french bread and the meatloaf. Each recipe is "to die for" and I receive rave reviews. Each recipe does truly come out perfect every time.
Rating: Summary: A great cookbook if you love good home cooking. Review: I have bought lots of cookbooks and this one is the best I've bought in years. Every recipe is a winner and it's great to understand exactly why. I also like the way she tries to cut down on labor in the kitchen. I hope Pam Anderson writes another one soon.
Rating: Summary: YADA, YADA, YADA Review: BLAH, BLAH, BLAH ABOUT WHAT DIDNT WORK AND THEN 2 RECIPES THAT IN HER SUBJECTIVE OPINION DID. MY SECRETE RECIPE FOR MEATLOAF INCLUDES PEPPERIDGE FARM CORNBREAD STUFFING AND HEINZ SAVOR BEEF GRAVY TO HOLD IT TOGETHER. MY HUSBAND RAVES ABOUT IT AND HE'S PICKY. DID MS. PAM TRY THAT IN HER TESTS? IT'S LIKE SAYING A WOMAN IS THE "MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN THE WORLD." FIRST, YOU'VE GOT TO LOOK AT EVERY WOMAN IN THE WORLD AND BY THEN YOU FORGOT WHAT THE FIRST 100 LOOKED LIKE. I'D SAY IF YOU CAN'T COOK, DON'T COOK OR HAVE NEVER COOKED, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. OTHERWISE, IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY.
Rating: Summary: This is the first time my prime rib came out perfect!!! Review: Pam's explanations are clear and concise. She also explains why she prepares the dishes the way she does. I love this book! I have avoided the problems I've had in the past, and replaced them with perfect meals!
Rating: Summary: Very useful and informative - recipes are excellent! Review: This is one of the best recipe books I've bought in the last 10 years! Not only is the information on each recipe informative and interesting, but it is also useful in analyzing other recipes you may want to improve. I am systematically trying all the recipes and have not tried one yet that was not deemed "2 thumbs up" by my very picky family. Definitely worth the money!
Rating: Summary: finally, a cookbook that makes sense Review: this is a great book for the beginner or the expierienced cook. Every detail is made simple and understandable. i recommend it highly!
