Summary: Have owned this cookbook for little over a year..
Review: Have owned this cookbook for little over a year..and have cooked nothing from it. nada. zilch. So... I am not basing my review on the quality of the recipes, but rather the appeal of them as a whole. I have many cookbooks, and in almost everyone one, their is usually at least one recipe that screams "make me" .. alas.. this one tends to be a shelf filler.

Summary: Too Many Snacks
Review: I purchased this book in hopes that it would have some great hearty meals but found it was mostly snacks such as tacos and Cuban sandwiches. The entrees were rather complicated and some just too exotic. How ever the snack recipes were good I purchased this book looking for some entrees so I was disappointed

Summary: Good Nuevo Latino, however NOT for amateurs!
Review: Sanchez has strayed far from some of his original roots, including a lot of experience with Cuban food. When it comes to Spanish food, Nuevo Latino can offer a nice change of pace. However, Nuevo Latino also tends to be "ultra-gourmet" with ingredients, techniques, and presentation skills that exceed the abilities of most home chefs.

I found many of the recipes to be confusing and some even tested my skills as a professional chef. If you want a good Latin/Caribbean cookbook that won't leave you frustrated, a better choice is "Three Guys from Miami Cook Cuban," also available from Amazon.
