Rating: Summary: This is a wonderful book. Review: I came across this book while weeding the large print collection. I took a moment to leaf through it, and I was amazed. This is a gorgeous book, filled with history, photos, and tasty recipes -- and the writing in it is very clever.
This is a special book, more than just a cookbook. I would highly recommend checking it out, but you better not read it hungry!

Rating: Summary: The Church Ladies Divine Deserts makes our spirits soar Review: The Church Ladies Divine Deserts is an indispensable combination of great recipes and hearty doses of oral history and advice. There is a long tradition of "church ladies" involvement in every facet of the secular and sacred traditions of their faith based institutions. One of the most important is that of nourishing the palate with the delectable deserts that grace the tables of the church dinners and the dining room tables in their homes. Brenda Miller, the wife of a minister, has collected the recipes and the stories behind them from the "church ladies" all over the country. Every cook should buy it. Every reader who wants to know more about some of our country's best traditions should also read it.
Rating: Summary: Great Reading cookBook, an entirely new experience. Review: This cookbook is a great resource for people planning parties. All of the recipes are desserts that are very easy to make and fun to eat. The best part is that they are very impressive looking. I especially love the heartfelt stories and the interesting originations of the recipies. You can make 2 or 3 different desserts for a party, then discuss the story 'reflections' as you get fat eating them. Brenda Rhodes Miller writes clear instructions and also gives suggestions for desserts that taste great together. The results are delicious! Definatly a keeper.
