Rating: Summary: Fantastic Book Review: This book is excellent. This book, along with Help! My Apartment Has a Dining Room, makes a great gift set for college students, for a housewarming gift, or for anyone who likes to cook. The recipes are easy and delicious, and the "mom tips" throughout are genuinely helpful. The authors' dessert book, Chocolate on the Brain, also makes a great gift for chocolate lovers. Again, the recipes are easy and delicious, and the book offers the same witty text and tips.I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoy my new beverage of choice. Made from 100% organic soy, taste just like coffee and no caffeine. Finally, I got rid of that wired up feeling all day and feeling great. Look for it on the net by googling "s o yfee".
The recipes actually taste GREAT! This cookbook has helped me survive my college years without starving! I highly recommend it, especially to beginners in the kitchen! You won't be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: BUY IT TODAY!!! Review: This book was one of the best investments I made after renting my first apartment. The recipes and materials are presented in a witty yet extremely practical way. This book goes over the basics that most cookbooks don't- the stuff you should have learned from your mom but were too busy and now too independent to ask for help. The list and menus help you not to starve. I highly recommend this cookbook.
Rating: Summary: mh Review: very helpfull cookbook for the person that is just learning to cook. But, most people just starting out love to have pictures of what they are supposed to be making. I loved Betty Crockers cooking basics, or if you want some variey -get both
Rating: Summary: Cooking for dummies -- but not foolproof. Review: When I first moved into my apartment in college, this book is one my Mom got for me. She bought it as a joke, but it was a good idea to get my confidence up in the kitchen. Most of the recipes are fairly easy to do, although some can be a little more challenging. If you're looking to make something quick and don't want to slave over a stove all night, there are all kinds of great quick recipes in there. However, one major complaint I have is that it seems like many recipes call for an unbelievable amount of oil if you follow the directions to the letter. In some cases, like pancakes, this isn't a problem. In other cases, though, it can really make things tricky, or just plain disgusting. If you're just starting out in the kitchen, though, you can get a feel for some basics and build your confidence. Just keep your eyes open and you'll get a better feel of how to tweak these recipies for the better -- and before long you'll graduate to "regular" cookbooks.
