Summary: This is a magazine, not a paperback
Review: Although there were some interesting recipes, I was extremelydisapointed when I opened the box to find a magazine. It is describedas a paperback, but it is printed on magazine-quality paper. Additionally, most of the recipes have appeared in MSL over the past two years. END

Summary: Title States EXACTLY what you get!
Review: First of all....i have never made a Martha Stewart Recipe that does not have a thousand ingredients! (other than the Everyday Food Magazine which I LOVE!), so....as some of the reviewers have stated yes there are many ingredients, BUT the end results are well worth the time and effort it takes to go get quality ingredients to make more than excellent food! The macoroni and cheese! (if made the way the direction call and ingredients stated can not be anything but delicious!) AND we use the pancake and waffle recipes constantly! My 4 year old who said yesterday i don't like waffles (because we've been having pancakes)ate them all day long!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything i have tried from this book has been VERY well eaten! I would recommend this over any of the other Martha Stewart Cookbooks i have! And yes it is small, but....packed with great comfort food as stated!

Summary: Not Her Best
Review: I am a Martha Stewart zealot. That's why it pains me to give this a less-than-stellar "3" rating.

Here are a few notes:

- The recipes, while yummy favorites (e.g. macaroni and cheese, egg salad) are quite complicated. (By this I mean that many of the recipies require ingredients you wouldn't readily find in your pantry or take quite long to prepare/bake/cook.) I would suggest buying this book if you have a few extra lbs. of Brie and in your refrigerator and a Sunday afternoon to kill.

- The artwork, as always, is stunning. (For those of you who read "Martha Stewart Living" magazines, the look/feel is very similar.)

- There are fewer recipies than one might expect. This is a very thin volume. If you want more bang for your Martha buck, I might suggest buying one of her compilation cookbooks.

In my mind, anything by Martha is high quality. In the end, though, I wish I spent my pennies on another one of her products.

Summary: Picked it up at a thrift shop and it is awful
Review: I bought this book ... at a local thrift shop and it was a waste of money. I prepared one of the receipes for friends at my home. I was assited by our English live-in maid and she is a very good cook. The results were awful. Everyone smiled but the dinner was dreadful.

Thanks to Martha - our neighbors no longer invite us to their monthly dinners which is awful.

I wish I could give it zero stars. My husband reminds me of the dinner on a regular basis.

Summary: wonderful
Review: i just received this book and love the format. i don't feel that the presentation is magazine quality and certainly love that some of the recipes i use are finally in one place! i've tried some of martha's other sandwich recipes and loved those, so i can't wait to try the new ones listed in this book. this book would make a great gift for a new cook or a very busy one!

Summary: Mmm...
Review: I received this as a Christmas gift and can think of a few people I'd like to share it with. The recipes are easy, with ingredients that are not hard to find, and the ones I have already tried are delicious. The millet casserole is a must-try for a tasty meatless meal. Definitely one of her best.

Summary: This book is a waste of money
Review: I thought that perhaps I should try some of Martha's recipes since on her shows the food usually looks really tasty. I've heard from a couple of friends that her recipes are not as good as it looks but I figure I should still purchase the book and try things out. This is the worst recipe book ever. First of all, there are only a limited number of recipes. Second of all, all the food I made from there turned out to be the worst tasting food ever. The mac and cheese was gross. The chicken noodle soup was swimming in too much salt. I will NEVER try any of her recipes or purchase another book of hers again.

Summary: Home Cooking Classics?
Review: I was really disappointed. I love watching Martha Stewart weekdays, but she rarely cooks anything I would fix at home. However, from the title of this cookbook, the description and the reviews I decided to take a chance. This is a beautiful book with lovely pictures, but there are very few recipes I would actually fix in my little kitchen. If you are more into onions and potatoes than leeks and parsnips save your money.
