Rating: Summary: "Super Meals for Solo Cooks" Review: I purchased this book because I am a single mom who's ex actually takes the kids and I frequently have to cook for one. I was tired of trying to figure out what to make. The cookbook has everything from soups and salads to desserts. Some of the recipes serve several and include freezing instructions for when you want a homemade frozen dinner. My absolute favorite recipe is called Fresh Tomato Sauce and I could have eaten it all summer made with homegrown tomatoes. The cookbook also includes minibiographies of single cooks, glossaries, and other interesting tips and information. Well worth the purchase price.
Rating: Summary: A Little Too Meat Oriented Review: I was thrilled with the spirit of this book. Cooking for one can be a gormet and fun experience. But as a person that chooses not to eat a great deal of meat, I found most of the recipies included in this volume to rely a little too heavily on meat. I wish the author would do a second volume for us vegies.
Rating: Summary: Simple instructions and easy recipes for the single cook Review: Nothing worse than being single and being subjected to frozen meals and takeout fare. If that's your life, then this book will change your life.I've found that most cookbooks serve six or more people. Reducing recipes by quantity alone poses a dilemma since proportions and cooking times can change when dividing recipes, and this book solves that dilemma. Many of my single friends don't cook for themselves because they find shopping a drudgery. This book provides readers workable strategies such as stocking the pantry with basic ingredients so you can come home and whip up something quickly. Try the chickpea and tuna salad recipe; it's delicious and takes only 10 minutes from start to finish. The pasta dishes are quick-cooking, and the book provides easy solutions when time is of the essence. She shows you how to make a simple and quick sauce from things on hand -- like olive oil, garlic and chopped fresh parsley -- and when the pasta is done, you've got a wonderful dinner. Lydecker's book is practical as it includes recipes that reflect the way people eat when dining alone --including all-in-one meals, sandwiches, soups and pizzas.
Rating: Summary: GREAT easy recipes Review: the first recipe I tried from this book was the potato pesto pizza made with her basic pizza dough. easy gourmet! I eat her pizza in some form or another at least once a week. her recipes are for the most part delicious and simple, plus, I love the friendly layout, and wide margins, great for jotting notes in. also, all the little spotlights on different solo cooks make it just as fun to read through as it is to eat out of. definately my favorite 'single' cookbook.

Rating: Summary: Really good book for an average single. Review: The recipes are all tasty and not too fancy. It's not hard to prepared so it's good for the average singles. It also contains useful notes and alternatives on some of the meals. A good buy.
Rating: Summary: I would take "super" out of the title Review: These recipes are OK. They are fine if you are the type who is in to fast food and are certainly an improvement on the usual fast food fare. I, however, prefer to take my cooking a little beyond the basics and I was hoping for a little more inventiveness in the recipes. This book would appeal to someone who appreciates the familiar (like Mom used to make) and lives alone.
