Summary: Mine is a mess!
Review: I bought this book when it was first published in 1992. Many of my Christmas cookie recipes are from this book, with my family's favorite being BLUE-RIBBON CHOCOLATE CHIP on page 10. That page has my notes written on it, as well as splats from ingredients over the years! No, it's not the same cookie as the mall, but it's the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I've found to date (including the classic on the chocolate chip package.
Great recipes - a real classic!

Summary: failure
Review: I bought this book with the high hopes of being able to duplicate the cookies sold at the Mrs. Fields stores in the malls. The cook book does not produce mall quality cookies. I've tried several of the cookes from this cook book and ALL are disappointing. Don't bother with this book. Betty Crocker's cook books have better cookie recipes.

Summary: Best Cookie Recipe Book!!
Review: I have used this book for as long as I have started baking. I love the oatmeal raisin cookies and the apple pie. The chocolate chip cheesecake is to die for!!! Everything is very easy to make and there are no hard to find ingredients.

Summary: An OK book, not great
Review: I think part of my disappointment of this book was because I expected the quality of the recipes to match my expectations of Debbi's supposedly high quality products. Not so here. The recipes are good enough but not wonderful. Same as other cookbooks. The choc chip cookie recipe offered here doesn't come close to the mall type cookies she sells. And while I didn't expect her to sell her actual "mall" recipe, I expected ("as she plunked her money down for the book"), better than this. Some of the recipes are good, (the Apple Cream Pennies are yummy) others are so-so. The pictures and lay out of the book are top notch.

Summary: Kid's Bake 'Em Cookies are great!
Review: My son is allergic to eggs and milk, so when I found this recipe, I was elated! I substituted the butter for shortening, and they turned out really good! Moist and chewy! I think I will try adding some brown sugar to them next time for a little twist, though.

I have made the Lacy Oatmeal cookies too (not for my son) and they are great.

I recommend this book, because it's easy to follow and the recipes never are complicated.

Summary: Simply the best
Review: Save your money. Here's what you're looking for. Mrs. Field's didn't dare reveal her real recipe:
Mrs. Fields' Secret Recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups flour
2 ½ cups oatmeal (put in a blender or food processor until it turns to powder)
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
12 oz. chocolate chips
1/2 oz. hershey bar, grated
1 ½ cups chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream together butter and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, and vanilla extract. Mix together flour, powdered oatmeal, salt, baking powder and baking soda, and combine with batter. Add remaining ingredients. Make golf-ball size cookies, flattened, two inches apart. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes. Makes 56 cookies.
