Summary: Great Guide, Perfect Gift!
Review: What I love most about this book is its combination of advice and entertainment -- all of it works together to make me feel supported in my efforts at decorating and entertaining.
So many "how to" books are serious and intimidating, but this one is so encouraging and friendly. I've already given two copies to girlfriends with new homes, and I'm sure to do it again. It's fun, practical, and just a little bit sassy -- now that's a real "chick thing!"

Summary: Chicks Decorate, Celebrate, Cook and Garden
Review: "A home is like a man, you ought to live with it for at least a year before deciding on anything permanent. And even then it's a big gamble." Katherine Anne Porter. This sort of helpful hint peppers this book by people you might recognize. Oprah Winfrey and Anna Quindlan have either helpful hints or articles.

"Nesting: It's A Chick Thing" by Ame Beanland and Emily Terry is a cute book. I received it as a gift. It is easy to read, great illustrations, and all of the chapters are well written. However, the book is too simplistic for me. It will not change my housekeeping, cooking or gardening habits. This book is meant for young women just starting their life as newly weds, or out of college with a new home or apartment. The idea is terrific and should be marketed to the younger generation. It is a fun read, and will answer any question you can think of on decorating, cooking or gardening. Great hints on "Painting like a Pro"; "Starting from Scratch". with an empty room; "Starter Tool Kit"; " How To Set a Table"; "How To Host a Poker Party" ( that is one chapter that I really learned from); "Ultimate Comfort Food Menu"; "What You Need In The Kitchen"; How To Roast Anything"; Cottage Gardens"; "How To Use A Hoe"; "How Royalty Pulls Weeds"; and the best of all," Kindergarten- How to garden with children".

Ame Beanland is an editor and art director and would rather garden than eat, she says. Emily Terry is a public relations specialist and loves imperfect homes. They are a duo combo who has written "Chick Thing: Celebrating the Wild Side of Female Friendship". A book for your young daughters starting their newly independent lives. prisrob

Summary: Great reading for the busy chick
Review: I like this book. Let me just say that first of all. And I would recommend it. But it's not very helpful. Most of the advice is just fluffy stuff about putting potpourri and scented candles around to make your house smell better, and how to paint a wall. It's a fun read, and I like the lists of "Things Every Chick Needs", but it won't affect my housekeeping very much.

Summary: it's cute, but not very substantial

Summary: Chicks-Only!
Review: I think this is a really cute book. It gives me a lot of ideas on how to personalize my home and decorate based on what I like, not what some designer magazine says I should like. However, I didn't realize that this book was about *decorating* and *entertaining* as much, which is not what I was looking for. Anyone can set out a bowl of potpourri, but perhaps there are some potpourri-impaired people out there who will really benefit from this book. This book is absolutely for girls only. It's very feminine.
The pictures and illustrations, as well as the PINKness of this book has been a very serious redeeming factor. I would recommend that you buy it if you need a laugh and if you need to be empowered. It also would make a very good gift. It's a good "bathroom read" in my opinion. The small stories make it easy for you to read for five minutes and then put it back down without needing to pay attention to any plot.

Summary: Chick-a-rific
Review: Love it! I gave it to all my bridesmaids and reference it almost every day for the handy tips, recipes, and just plain old laughs. You have to check out Anna Quindlen's essay about not thawing the Thanksgiving turkey--hysterical! This is a book for all the chicks in your life--girlfriends, mother, grandmother, and sisters.

Summary: The MUST-HAVE Reference Book for Chicks
Review: Love this book -- LOVE IT! I was the lucky recipient this Christmas and have read it already, cover to cover! Full of fun short stories, advice and quotes I'm sure to work into conversation some day. I plan on giving this book to my close chick-friends and am sure they will love it as much as I do!

Summary: A spurt of energy
Review: Nesting is fun to do, fun to read, and fun to look at. Reading this gem will give any reluctant decorator or entertainer a spurt of energy to go for it. Whether you're throwing a girly party for a dozen or curling up with a cup of tea , this is an inspirational guide to refer to. A reference book for making one's house a home.

Summary: Great reading for the busy chick
Review: Since Nesting is a collection of short stories, quotes, recipes, "how to's" etc., I find it convenient to read for a few minutes of "me" time without getting caught up in a plot. As I go through the book I get good ideas, enjoy a pleasant thought or even a good laugh. It is very entertaining and uplifting and can be enjoyed in small doses when time is short.

Summary: Fun with nesting!
Review: Such a great book. Full of great stories for the non-perfect woman with too little time on her hands to get everything done. Funny stories from all types of women, and great hints and recipes that could be put to use everyday. I totally recommend this book!!! I've even given some as gifts, and the feedback has been phenomenal. Everyone loves it.
