Rating: Summary: More recipes... Review: I was hoping for more, easy.. you already have in your home type sorbet recipes. Many of them, have items that a normal consumer just would not have in the household. I am not about to go around town looking for turkish rose water, or sauternes wine. The book is colorful, great pictures, but I want more "common, easy" sorbet recipes.
Rating: Summary: A simply gorgeous book! Review: There were no reviews when I ordered this book and so I was taking a chance. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase! This is, hands down, the most beautiful cookbook I own. The photography is gorgeous! In addition to large, full colour photographs of each dessert, there are photos for many of them which illustrate various steps in the recipe. At the front of the book is a detailed section on the basics of making these desserts and also a discussion of the tools needed. I bought this for use with an ice cream maker but the good news is that many of the recipes do not require one! This isn't your average chocolate, vanilla and strawberry either, although she does include some more classic flavours. No, this book has recipes for coffee-chocolate sherbert, ginger and kiwi water ice, mulled wine ice and many more sophisticated and original desserts! All measures are given in metric, imperial and standard cups and spoons making this book accessible no matter where you live. Where an ingredient's name differs in the US, both names are given. I am a vegan and was very pleased to see that many of the recipes do not call for animal products such as milk or eggs and, those that do can be easily adapted using soy, rice or nut milks. One of my favourite features of this book, aside from its photography, is its tips on presentation. For many of the recipes, the author has suggested, explained and illustrated with photos stunning ways of presenting the desserts. You need not be Martha Stewart to make your creations look like they sprung off of the cover of a magazine! The author shows you how to get creative and impress your guests by serving citrus sorbet in a hollowed out orange or frosting flowers for the top of an ice and those are just two of her ideas! I would highly recommend this gem of a book!
