Summary: One of the best basic cookbooks
Review: Having checked out the book at my local library I know this will be one of my most used cookbooks. As is the case with all of the mini-Pillsbury books I've picked up at the grocery store, this book has easy tasty meals, lots of variety, excellent nutrition information, all of the things I want in a day-to-day cookbook. I've never made a Pillbury recipe that I didn't like, most of them become "old stand-bys" in my kitchen. Good food for everyday meals to casual entertaining.

Summary: Another Classic From Pillsbury
Review: I have subscribed to Pillsbury's Classic Cookbooks since 1994. Suffice it to say that I am a big fan of this series and I have kept every issue with the exception of the ones that were lost. When I got a card from Pillsbury announcing the publication of this collection of favorites from the magazines, I ordered it immediately.

Several things that make the Pillsbury books and this one in particular, great, are: 1. The recipes don't have a lot of ingredients or things that aren't readily available, 2. They appeal to a lot of cooking tastes, and 3. They are absolutely delicious. I love soup and the Harvest Chicken Noodle Soup and the Light Chicken-Wild Rice Soups are both favorites. The Poultry section, another favorite, provides delights such as Easy Jerk Chicken, Honey Mustard Chicken, and a scrumptious Twenty-Garlic Chicken Dinner.

As for the layout of the book, you will be pleased. Nutritional information is provided for each recipe so people watching calories or fat intake will know if the recipe fits their plan. For many recipes, there are 'Cook's Notes' which offer suggestions for attaining the best results. The photos, and there are many, will make you salivate. There is even a special section at the end entitled Holiday Specialties, and this provides the reader with recipes for salads, appetizers, side dishes, main courses and desserts that will work for a variety of holiday traditions.

Bottom line: Buy the book! It will be a keeper and you'll love the results.

Summary: CAN'T BEAT A CLASSIC !
Review: When it comes to cooking, there is no finer cookbook than one by Pillsbury, and no, I have no relatives who work for Pillsbury, nor do I own any shares in the company! The recipes are just plain, down-to-Earth, nutritious old-fashioned meals with a fantastic taste, and I cherish each of my Pillsbury cookbooks dearly. This is one of my all-time favourites, second only to Pillsbury One-Dish-Meals Cookbook, which comes in at the top of my list. In the Classic Cookbook the reader will find just about anything and everything that was ever on their meal planner. There are recipes containing all the common varieties of meats, veggie dishes, soups, stews, sandwiches, breads - you name it, it's all here in one cookbook. The illustrations are great and the endless number of notes, tips and suggestions found in the book are a terrific plus when it comes to planning and preparing your meal. This is a very complete coobook and would make an excellent gift for those who are just beginning their experience in the kitchen. If you have a son or daughter spreading their wings and leaving for their own nest, make sure you tuck this top-notch cookbook under their arm on their way out the door. The book contains 275 recipes, and found among the pages are some great, easy-to-prepare meals at affordable prices!
