Review: I fell for this book within moments while turning it's pages. Having spent over twenty years in kitchens here was not just a reference tome but an encyclopedia and travel guide.

Soon after, Alex a young line cook from Mexico who'd taught himself English, became the proud father of a baby girl. "Ingredients" was my gift for him to be used as a picture book both he and his wife could read to their child. He happily accepted on the condition it would be read in English and Spanish so that their daughter could converse with her grandfather in his native language. Thanks a million! As the lyric to a Ricki Lee Jones song goes " You never know when your making a memory ".

Summary: A Sight for Sore Eyes
Review: I picked up this book in the... bin at the local bookstore, and I couldn't believe my luck. The book is worth owning for the photography alone - beautiful, spare, art quality photographs of everything from fruits to oils to seafood to meat to herbs and spices.

On the minus side, this book does not supply in-depth information about any ingredients. If you are looking for that sort of comprehensive information, you are better off choosing a book like "The Joy of Cooking" or "How to Cook Everything."

If, however, you want a feast for the eyes, this worth well more than the money I paid for it.

Review: If you are looking for a book that gives you a visual feast of ingredients from around the world, this is it!! This book gives you every ingredient you could possibly think of, and then some. The photos are beautiful, and helpful. I highly reccomend this to a beginning cook or someone who is already a culinary expert for your reference shelf.
