Rating: Summary: What a great little, easy to follow book! Review: ...As soon as I got the book in the mail I went down to my local market and picked up some fruit. That alone is worth the price of the book. If this book does anything it'll make the reader more insightful to nutrition and it will force them to eat more fruits and vegetables. Not bad for a...book I think. The recipes are so simple to follow. The ingredients, for the most part, can be purchased in any local fruit stand. Yes, there are some obscure ingredients. I had no idea what silken tofu was until I read the preface. The stuff tastes great! Don't be afraid to try and drink something new and different. After all, what would you rather drink, soda or a smoothie? It takes a matter of minutes to put one of these drinks together - and that includes the preparation which usually doesn't entail anything more then a peeling here or there. If you have kids they will go nuts for this stuff. You can make them together. Then DRINK them together! Yum!
Rating: Summary: Get your blenders ready! Review: I bought this book on a Friday afternoon ~ by Sunday evening I had already made and tried 12 of the 50 recipes! Each one seemed better then the next! Summer is here and if you're looking for a GREAT smoothie book THIS IS IT! The recipes are THE BEST I've ever tried not to mention A FRACTION of what juice bars charge! They have the recipes broken down into sections; Energy, Immune boosters, Weight-conscious, For the gals, For the fellows, For the kids, Stress reducers and (the authors) Favorites. Every recipe I've tried so far has been WONDERFUL ~ not one was disappointing AND you don't need to run out and look for exotic ingredients ~ you can find everything @ your grocery store! GREAT job Mary and Sara ~ thanks so much!!
Rating: Summary: Not Such A Smooth Move Review: I got a smoothie machine for Xmas and decided to pull out this book I had purchased a few years ago. I have NO complaints. The smoothies I have tried are delicious and I have lost 10 pounds (need I say more). I use them as a meal replacement and am full and satisfied. I even cut down on some snacks so I can have a smoothie instead!! The recipes are easy, and you can substitute canned fruits and make other substitutions (milk and canned peaches instead of peach yogurt) and it still tastes great! Many of the recipes use the same fruits over so I just buy some bags of frozen fruit from the store and I am good to go for a few recipes. Great for those wishing to lose a few pounds or up their nutrition.

Rating: Summary: Recipes good, but paying too much for design of book Review: I really can't complain about the content of this book, I find most of the smoothies to be yummy and refreshing. However, I wanted one smoothie book to use with my blender and this isn't the only book I ended up getting. Plus, I've had this book for only about three months and I'm already getting tired of thumbing through it and seeing the same stuff. I really wish I had purchased a book that focused more on the quantity of recipes and less on the pictures of the recipes it did contain within (as this book does). I ended up purchasing Smoothies, Shakes & Frappes ISBN 1579121721 for about half the price and, with no disrespect to these authors, found this to be a better choice if it really is quantity of smoothie and shake recipes you are looking for.

Rating: Summary: Blenders down! Review: If you love healthy foods and aren't into all those extremely sweet concotions that you buy at the store then this is the book for you! If, however, you would rather add ice cream to your smoothie than low fat yogurt then find another book. The only problem I have with the book is that many of the ingredients are hard to find some places. I tend to improvizes some of the recipies because of this.
Rating: Summary: Where's the Beef? Review: Just a few good recipes, if you like bananas. Too much eye candy and too few recipes. I'd pass on this one.
Rating: Summary: Not Such A Smooth Move Review: Since I had been so happy with the Corpening sisters' first smoothie book, I was eager to give this second one a try, too. Unfortunately, I find these *specialty* smoothies quite off-putting. *All* of the smoothies are made with healthful ingredients, and to imply that some are particularly beneficial for your immune system, heart, energy level, decreasing stress, etc., is just plain misleading! Then there are separate smoothies for men, women, and children, including one calling for breast milk or formula! As a single mom, I want to make just one smoothie that is suitable for both myself and my son! This is just plain silly! I'm sure that the majority of these recipes could be altered so that you could/would serve them to everybody in your family at the same time, (my son does not want to share a smoothie called "pms potion" with me!) but why bother when the recipes in the first book are already completely drinker friendly.
Rating: Summary: Mouth-Watering Recipes! Review: There are 50 mouth-watering recipes in this book. One of the first things that caught my attention was how well the recipes were categorized. There are eight categories - Energy Elixirs, Immune Boosters, Weight Conscious, For The Gals, Kids/Baby, For The Fellows, Stress Reducers and Our Favorites. In addition, the authors have added many useful and informative sections, such as a fruit and veggie glossary, a seasonal fruit chart, ten tips for super smoothies, and much more. This book is not only a great cookbook but also a wonderful educational resource. The recipe difficulty is moderate, with some recipes requiring preparation ahead of time, and others calling for spices and ingredients that you might not have readily available in your kitchen. But, the good news is that some of these recipes include tofu and soy milk. Finally, if pictures are important to you, you may be disappointed that there are not many illustrations. The authors do invite you to their web site for an e-version of the book and for additional recipes (http://www.thymestwo.com). By P.Everett
