Review: A delicious book in every respect: verbally, visually, and tastefully. I enjoyed preparing these easy and delightful recipies as my kitchen was transformed into fairy-tale land for my children. They beg for the stories nightly!

Review: I bought this book when I saw it was an item recommended in addition to another item I was looking at purchasing on Amazon. This book was a huge disappointment, and the recipes did not spark any desire for me to cook.

Review: I really enjoyed this book. The recipes are easy to understand and fairly simple to prepare whether you're new to the kitchen or a seasoned pro. The accompanying stories take you down the path of old Eastern European folklore. Nice addition. Would've liked to see it in a hardcover with color pictures.

Review: It is an incredible combination of Recipes, Stories and Art from the country that has been a leader in Literature and history. Alla Danishevsky has really captured the best of all the worlds and created an nice collectors item and a addition to your home library.

Review: The wide variety of recipes are amazing. I enjoyed eating Russian meals at a few local restaurants and now I am able to cook them at home. The tales were an extra bonus to the excellent tasting dishes that I have prepared so far.

Summary: Enjoyed trying out the recipes
Review: This book contains the best of the Russian dishes, some of which I am familiar with and others which are new to me. I found that some international cookbooks are not easy to follow, when trying to prepare the dish. I have cooked a few of the dishes from this book and I had a fun, easy time of doing it. My family loved eating them!

Review: This is a great book to have! The recipies are short, simple and tasty! The tales are fun, specially for kids. This book also makes a nice gift for your friends.
The book introduced old Russian cooking to me and since then I gained 10 lbs. :)

Review: You can tell when someone who does not know their topic is struggling to write...not the case here! It's obvious Alla Danishevsky is from the country she writes about and that she has been well trained by her mother and grandmother in the ways of the "old country." This book will add to any cooks enjoyment in learning the tastes of other countries as well as adding knowledge of the culture. Excellent job!
