Rating: Summary: Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice Review: I'm not a fan of most cookbooks, but Latin Ladles scores big points. The descriptions are entertaining but concise, the ingredients are well explained and the directions are thorough. The soups are more like meals and preparation is a big part of most recipes. If you're looking for unique recipes with complex flavors you've come to the right cookbook. Oh, I love soft-backed books and that makes this book a 5 for me.
Rating: Summary: A great sequel to "Nuevo Latino" Review: The perfect compliment to Douglas Rodriguez's "Nuevo Latino" book. This new book reintroduces us to the latin style of cooking present by Mr. Rodriguez. A must for those of us who enjoy and love soups. The extensive fare of soups and stews are hearty enough to be the main dish in any meal. The book provides an good introduction to the style and background to the cooking style. Each of the recipes is preceded by a short but highly interesting description of the dish and some of its ingredients. The instruction are simple and easy to follow. If I have to point out a flaw, and I do find one, its the book's presentation. This book's content is so good why isn't the actual book so. "Nuevo Latino" is stunningly presented as a hard cover book but "Latin Ladles" is not, it is only available in paper back form. This is why I gave it 4 stars.
