Summary: Not as bad as others make it out to be.
Review: I am less suspect of this book now that I live in Germany. The recipes are very good and quite authentic; however you MUST read them all the way through BEFORE beginning the cooking process! The translation is faulty in regards to the wording and order in which the cooking of items should be completed.Substitutions are easily found in America for listed items, but you must have a previous knowledge of what the item actually IS in Germany, and a fairly good common sense knowledge of the kitchen to follow the "out of order" instructions. If you want truly authentic recipies though, it is a good book.

Review: this book is lacking in so many ways. my husband is half german (he grew up in germany) and this book does NOT have half of the things that he loves (which was why i bought it). i STRONGLY do not recommend this book!

Some recipes I tried did not even turn out right or if they did, it was a shame because they were terrible. This cookbook is good for reference and maybe comparisons with other recipes, but that is all.
