Summary: Traditional heartland baked goods and relishes
Review: Every August, I head to the Minnesota state fair and elbow my way through crowds to stare at perfectly browned and shaped baked goods. And I'vealways wondered if those blue ribbon winners taste as good as they look. So I bought this book to see. It's packed with desserts (including cookes & bars, cakes, pies, muffins and quick breads), as well as yeast breads, jams & jellies, relishes & salsa, and pickles. Most of the recipes are simple and traditional. I recommend the molasses sugar cookies, the apple pie, and the prize-winning cinnamon rolls. Although overwhelmingly delicious, the recipes are generally high in sugar and fat, so watch your waistline.
