Review: I was brought up in Southwestern Pennsylvania and I cannot believe how many memories this cookbook brought back. I have used all of my childhood favorite recipes, now I am well on my way to trying new things from different ethnic groups of that area. Also, I can now relate to some of the things that my parents talked about regarding the way that they were brought up. Those little tidbits of information helped me grasp the reasoning behind some of my least favorite recipes as well.------LOVED this book

Review: I was lucky to learn about and read this book recently and wanted to be sure more people knew about this little gem of history. Not only did I learn more about my local history, but a little more about my own heritage.

And the recipes were equally interesting especially those without measurements. I remember watching my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother cook and they never measured. Reading about everyone's mothers brings back memories of learning to cook with my mother and relatives. There are some recipes I still can't reproduce just right.

Even if you don't cook, I recommend this book to anyone if only to whet your appetite while you learn. Good reading and eating!
