Rating: Summary: Healthy South Indian Cooking Review: This is my first South Indian Cooking Cookbook and I love it. Not only are the recipes delicious, they also include the nutritional analysis for each one. The cookbook has WONDERFUL information about the spices used in the dishes. I really like that Alamelu and Patricia included a glossary of names of the South Indian dishes. I have learned much about the foods and dishes. I have tried several of the recipes and they are so easy to prepare and enjoyable to eat. Great pictures too! I guess I can't say enough, but I really appreciate a cookbook that is put together well and has great tasting recipes and this cookbook meets my standards. Thank you Alamelu and Patricia.
Rating: Summary: Healthy Southern Indian Cooking by Alamelu Vairavan & Patric Review: This is the book that has my children eating vegetables now! I have a 7, 14 and 18 year old, and have never seen them eat green beans before we made the Green Bean Poriyal. Tonight i've made Lima Beans Poriyal, so they can have some as a snack tomorrow when they get home. Once you get the basic spices & rice, you just need to pick up the vegetables, or have them in your freezer. The book's easy to follow. Sometimes I cut back on the chilli's for myself and the children, and we still have a tasty dish. I think my favorite is the Cracked Wheat Uppuma.
