Rating: Summary: Buy it! Review: My husband and I come from multi-cultural backgrounds... Taiwanese, Swedish, Danish, German and Polish. I love to cook and have had difficulties finding ingredients due to the language barrier. This book is incredible! Not only did I find out names of recipes I was cooking translated to things so simple as 'white bean soup' in the English language, but I could look up unknown ingredients and easily determine substitutes if they could not be found in our area.Yes, I own and have used many other culinary dictionaries in the past, but none compare to this one. Most focus on the American dishes and ingredients without taking into consideration that America is a melting pot of every other culture in existence. They fail in comparison to this book. I can tell you, listening to French chefs use culinary terms is now familiar rather then intimidating. Mistakes? While I find many mistakes in cookbooks (I own a lot), I have only found one in this one. Kielbasa. It's missing the L, however the definition is correct. I find this to be absolutely incredible considering how many terms, definitions and countries are included. I have lots of friends who are bilingual and have had them check this book out (as I hate to use books that are misleading). Not one has found a mistake. So, if you are looking to try a new recipe but are afraid because you can barely understand if it is an entree or a dessert, get this book and cook with confidence!
Rating: Summary: This is THE dictionary Review: The BEST culinary dictionary out. Considerably better than everything else out, even better than the Food Lover's Companion.
