Summary: Art for life and food for taste
Review: Not only are the recipes in this book imaginative and easy to follow, but the colors and vibrancy of the pictures make it a sheer pleasure to browse through, cook from, have on the coffee table or give as a gift. The vividness of the oranges alone is enough to warm up a room. I look forward to more books from Roden who is obviously someone to watch.

Summary: Granita Magic by Roden
Review: This book has a recipe for most kinds of fruit dessert
preparations. For instance, there is cucumber mint, pistachio
and rose, currant, apples and green grapes. These preparations
would be helpful for dieters if made without the processed
sugar added. The cited recipes are perfect for parties and
many social occasions. The work is a handy addition to any
cook's repertoire of food preparations.

Summary: Nice book, pretty pictures
Review: This book is 120 pages, but has only 55 recipes in it. A nice little book, artfully designed, with attractive pictures. The granita ingredients lists are complete, as are the instructions. The freezing method is also well explained. It seems to be aimed at the beginner, so a few definitions would have helped. I'm a novice at this (& perhaps a stupid one), but I didn't know what "zest" meant. I gathered that it had something to do with peeling the rind off fruits, so I used a potato peeler. As you cooks out there will guess, this produced less than magnificent results. I then consulted with an "expert" (my wife) who told me what it meant & went out & bought me a "zester," which is a necessary piece of equipment for making fruit granitas. Don't try it without one! On p. 11 of the book, the author lists the implements needed & states that "no special equipment is needed," but she neglects to mention a zester in this section.

Summary: AMAZING, EASY TO DO and MAKE ME FEEL EXOTIC!
Review: To start, I want to just bathe in or wear this BEAUTIFUL art.
And, the Granitas are astonishing. My friend told me about the book, I didn't think I could do it (I can't take ice cubes out of a tray), but this is simple, festive, makes me feel absolutely fabulous. You can be healthy or add alcohol and still be healthy! Perfect gift - perfect for a weekend with a lover - or perfect for everyday treating-yourself. I'm so impressed and happy with this book.
