Rating: Summary: Get in on the table fast Review: "This is the small-is-beautiful cooking concept. I'm awed by real gourmet cooking, but I'm never going to be that kind of cook and neither will most people." ~Brook NoelIf you are wondering why Brook Noel wrote so many tiny books instead of a huge cookbook with all her recipes in one book, the answer is simple. You can throw these tiny books in your purse and do your shopping with the help of the personal shopper in the back of each book. If you don't have the time to write out shopping lists or plan meals, these books might save you a lot of time. If you cook from a wide variety of cookbooks, you can add some easy-to-make recipes to your recipe repertoire. These are not gourmet recipes, they are fun family favorites. You will find recipes for: Garlic Bread, Special Spaetzle, Spaghetti Pie, Chicken and Veggie Pasta, Chicken Tetrazzini, Strawberry Sundaes and Magnificent Macaroni. Each tiny book has some cute features which include symbols for "really fast" recipes perfect pasta pointers and "mother-knows-best" wisdom. If Brook can cook, you can too. Wait until you read some of her hilarious recollections of kitchen disasters. Also look for: Family Favorites Effortless Entertaining

Rating: Summary: Convenient format for the hurried Review: The Rush Hour Cook series is a collection of small books that are designed to easily fit into a purse or briefcase without taking up much room. In the "Presto Pasta" book you can expect the usual categories of soups, sides and starters, main meals, and desserts. The soups, sides, and starters are specifically picked to be ones that are appropriate for a pasta meal. One of the requirements for a recipe to make it into the Rush Hour Cook series is that the ingredients must be easy to find in just about any grocery store. So if you plan on preparing something from the book you can drop it into your purse or carry it along and pick up the ingredients on the spot. Various tips are also scattered throughout the book. At the end there are five days of suggested meals as an example of meal planning and the shopping list that would be needed to prepare all of these meals. These are practical, easy to prepare, and quick recipes. This is a great gift for the novice cook or the person who just wants to make a quick meal and get on to other things.

Rating: Summary: COOKING FOR THE CHILD (AS IN "JULIA") IN ALL OF US Review: There's a child in all of us ... that certain someone who yearns for things that taste good and are quick to bring smiles to our faces and bellies. And that child ain't Julia. We have finally discovered a woman who understands the way most Americans eat: fast and faster. Brook Noel has penned a series of ultra-slim cookbook (think of them as gastronomic guides) that offer recipes, and serve up tasty tricks and tips. There's even a sprinkling of savory trivia --- who knew the pretzel was invented in 600 AD by a monk who crossed the dough to form hands in prayer? The meals in minutes (Noel insists "no list of ingredients shall be longer than the instructions") are easy to make. She proves that anyone can conquer kitchen chaos, win the battle of rush hour without rushing, and still come out smelling like a cinnamon bun.
Rating: Summary: Love that Pasta! Review: This is a great pasta cookbook with your shopping list done for you. I even put the cookbook in my purse and at my lunch hour at work I look thru it to see what I can make for a meal and stop at the store on the way home. It has saved me allot of time having the shopping list done.
